C'mon guys, you're dissing the game before it even gets a chance, the graphics aren't that bad. :? Aren't that bad? Come on, those graphics are STILL sweet. No, they're not OMFGWTFZOMG like they once were, but given the evolution of technolodgy, they'll be easier to run than previously, and they st...

Ah Far Cry.. I found it really hard on Challenging. On the easiest setting though, I didn't find it too bad. The volcano level was ridiculous.. until I discovered the blatently obvious area with all the guns locked up. Hello Fatboys, meet LMG! After that, it was just hard. Even Challenging was a bit...

There's a shotgun attachment?

Guess I never got that far. Is it selectable as a weapon option, maybe?

Other than that.. I've no idea.

[quote]When are voice overs ever good anyway :P. Not often ... as I said I thought they were ok ... in "Call of Juarez" they are spot on ... about as good as I have ever heard in a game ... Ah, Call of Juarez.. The spoken narrative in loading screens almost made up for their length. Best vo...

Out of that list, the following excite me: Might and Magic: Dark Messiah, F.E.A.R Extraction Point, Hellgate: London, Splinter Cell 4: Double Agent, Neverwinter Nights 2 (man, I spent about a year playing a PW in NWN1..), BioShock, Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway, Crysis, Enemy Territory: Quake War...

I thought the easiest setting was a little.. sorry, way way too easy in places. But, like most of the other settings, still insane in small sections. I'm glad CryTek actually came out and appologied for those Trigens. Excellent, excellent game. But dear lord, Far Cry is REALLY REALLY cheap in places...

Er, this is weird. For some reason, screenheight/screenwidth isn't in my Scarface registry settings.

It's got Anti-Alasing and mouse sensitivity.. The rest of it is mostly SecuROM stuff.

Edit: false alarm. You just need to have changed the resolution once for it to appear.

I feel really bad about the triple post, but considering the timespace between each, I think it should be acceptable. Anyway, I got it working, and in case anyone else had problems, I think this will fix it. After the FEAR: Extraction Point demo came out, I really wanted to try it out. Not just beca...

Okay, new update. Question: is there any way to set the heapsize in FEAR, like you can in Source games? Because I've discovered that if I set a heapsize in Half-Life 2 or CS Source, etc, my PC will have the very same crash as it would with FEAR (before it stopped itself working.. hm, perhaps the hea...

Update: Checked for forceware profiles, everything is pretty much set to "let application decide", so that's not the problem, it seems.

Edit: Just curious if anyone else with this problem has tried a hard drive reformat? I'm starting to consider that option.

is there a profile for fear in that forceware? if so, any dodgy settings, sometimes the nV drivers force stuff that shouldnt be, at least the gfx card isnt faulty :)

Eh, stupid question, but how do I find out if there's a profile for F.E.A.R. in the forceware?

No AA or AF have ever been forced, which is another odd part. Games in general are fine. My 3D Mark score is up in 5000 and CS: Source runs at 120 frames per second with everything maxed out. Battlefield 2 runs slightly better than usual because of the lower resolution.. Absoloutely everything is 10...

Nope. The weird thing, is that even if I tone the settings down much lower than usual, it never gets much past being between 12 and 16 frames per second.

No extra background processes, and tried re-installing quite a few times.

The weird thing is, it worked temporarily when I restored my driver defaults of performance settings on my nVidia drivers. That's a clue, but unfortunately not really enough.

I'll just say that FEAR runs fine on my PC, which is a AMD 3700+ overclocked just like yours, with a 7800GTX which is similar to yours, and a 24 inch widescreen. The game runs fine on max settings with full AF, as long as I keep AA and soft shadows off. You could try putting in another stick of RAM...

Ah, finally - someone who has my problem. Well, I'm not sure how much help this'll be for you, but I did a little test. I switched back to my original monitor and ran FEAR. What's strange, is that it still ran terribly. So, I'm pretty sure now that although the monitor may have triggered it, it's no...

I ran it 1600x1200 on the old monitor, and 1440x900 on the new (though it won't work with any resolution I set it to now).

Just checked the nVidia control panel, and everything is set to application controlled.

I've started using an extention cable for my Acer AL1916W. I own a VGA one and an SVGA one. However, the VGA one causes my screen to go unbearably blurry, and the SVGA one doesn't want to allow me to use my 1440x900 resolution. So far, I've been getting by this by using the VGA cable to set the reso...

Deleted every config file available and all profiles. Still no luck.

Edit: Also tried a full reinstallation. No dice there either.
