I wonder what that means about their stance with the first Bioshock. If I remember crrectly, I believe the "design decision" quote came from one of the 2k CEOs, not the developers themselves. The developers basically said "ignore what he said- we'll fix it" and then we got the patch. the way the pa...

I'm very glad developers, including 2K Games are now taking the FOV issue as it relates to widescreen monitors seriously. It went from "We don't give a shit. Deal with it." to actually commenting right away that a fix is in the works. Hopefully it'll show up soon. 2K Games even posted a set of scree...

As was already said: I wouldn't bother unless current games are already giving you unplayable framerates. At 1920x my 8800 GTS 512 is still keeping up splendedly with every new game I throw at it which doesn't have "Crysis" in the title. Somewhat dissapointingly it doesn't look like anything is comi...

I'm having the exact same issue as wazoo. In fact, I'm kinda glad because I was worried I was the only one. :)

For me, this didn't start until Firefox updated itself to version 3.06, which happened just a couple of days ago. Before that it was working just fine.

Water cooling has always been intriguing to me, but I am still very skeptical about the risk and of course it's pretty expensive. As far as longevity goes, the vinyl tubing certainly doesn't have a long life and you need be careful to select compatible non corrosive parts. Most people (who know wha...

If you're looking for both quiet and the ability to handle a high OC, then I'd recommend water cooling. It will start as far more expensive than high quality air coolers, but a good custom kit will last you many generations of systems. For instance: My current setup cost ~$250 a couple years ago and...

ANyone have much expirence with using a 1080P 32" HDTV as a monitor?

I'm thinking about either getting the Toshiba REGZA 32RV530U or the Doublesight 265W 26" monitor.

Any opinions?

Looks like the new DS model will not ship with a polarizer either - some are thinking the earlier models having a pol. installed was some sort of manufacturing fluke. Even assuming you don't get the polarizer, it is still a superior H-IPS panel, far better than most on the market, and all panels at ...

My PC already has 2 TV tuners (one QAM/ATSC & one SDTV) and since I prefer to watch TV using my DVR software (Beyond TV) any tuner built into the display would mostly be a waste. Playing 16x9 movies on a 16x10 26" display would still be far better than what I'm already using now, and the black bars ...

That doublesight is a really nice display, and I'm surprised I didn't notice the Viewsonic used a 6-bit panel (bleh). Problem is $700+ was more than what I was planing to spend. Perhaps I should get a really nice 24" monitor instead? I know the cheap ones are going for a little over $300 now. That s...

My current 20" monitor is starting to feel kinda small, especially since I use it so often to watch movies and TV shows from 10 feet away. Any word on good 26" monitors? I saw the Viewsonic VX2640w at Costco the other day, and the listed specs are fantastic. Is it really that good or is it to good t...

Since shutter glasses require a CRT monitor to function, I doubt it very much. I have an old pair of ELSA shutter glasses and have thought about making a controller board to handle the glasses' lens shutter, but getting the timing in sync with the video would be nearly impossible without computer co...

I don't think you can make judgments on framerate based on a released video. For all we know they could have removed some frames for the sake of a smaller video size.

By "span" do you mean make Windows and other software treat the two monitors as one large, high rez monitor?

Out of curiosity, why is that so important?

Just finished the campaign last night. After taking some time to cool off I can offer my opinion w/o overreacting... 6 or 7 out of 10. Bugs and game engine aside, its just Farcry with a powersuit and overpowered aliens. I really have nothing more to add to my thoughts on the overall feel of the game...

I will assume that by scripted events you do not mean anything that takes control away from the player.

Correct.
