I posted about this issue on PCZone's technical site under the bioshock thread... http://forums.dearwandy.com/viewtopic.php?id=23527 Page 3 near the bottom. Their reviewer replied with a very interesting point, namely "This wasn't mentioned in the PC Zone review because we didn't know about it. We ...

[quote]The idea that a moving 2D image is capable of resulting in motion sickness because the scrunched up viewfield implies to our brain different movement than we are used to in a game is not something those who are set against the idea will readily accept. It requires a bit more acceptance that ...

That's totally a misleading screenshot though. It implies that the game was built for 4:3 and modified for widescreen, which almost certainly isn't the case. It also implies that you're seeing a lower-resolution version, when in fact you're seeing more pixels than a comparable 4:3 display. They ope...

with this game, you see less, in same detail, and a distorted POV No, you don't. Compare a 960x720 screen with a 1280x720 widescreen shot, and you'll see MORE. There are more pixels, and what you're seeing is in greater detail. There's no distorted POV, the projection is just done to maintain a con...

[quote][quote][quote][quote][quote]i think people expected it when the developers told us to. Where? Citing (and linking) a source where thay explicitly state that the 16:9 AR will be wider than the 4:3 one would be nice. And, no: A generic statement like "of course it will be designed for widescre...

Still, it doesn't exclude the possibility that the current 16:9 mode is like they always intended it to be and that they changed their approach to how they implemented the 4:3 mode. actually it does exclude the possibility. since they stated you will see more, and we dont. we actually see less. unl...

I have a question, and I'm serious here: Why is it that everyone automatically expect the 16:9 aspect ratio version to have a wider FOV than the 4:3 one? If a game is primarily designed for 4:3 it is wrong to chop to 16:9. Rather, you should add to the sides. Equally, if a game is primarily designe...
