I basically want to know is: Do the members of this forum feel that Widescreen HAS to have a wider FOV for games than 4:3 in every case? And if so, why? First I'll answer the question with a question and answer it. Do you think a FOV of 75 degrees for a FPS is reasonable for a WS display? I do not ... |

Uh guys, I check several locations and took some sample shots in DX9 and DX10 and I can't find a single difference. Quick, silence him before he reveals the secret! LOL, maybe some of the graphics gurus here can show some impressive DX9 vs DX10 screenshots, but I have yet to see a real eye candy im... |

But polling just widescreen gamers is like polling coal producers about whether pollution restrictions should be eased. You’re not exactly getting an accurate representation of what’s good for the community as a whole. I understand that. I was thinking more along the lines of sitting a person d... |

I'm not sure I need a technical explanation - "because we like it" works just fine. And in that respect, I definitely agree. There are so many emotions getting in the way of the facts (just look at kotaku), that it's easy for threads to derail into flame fests. People are so angry that "their game" ... |

http://www.2kgames.com/cultofrapture/home.html Reports of the widescreen FOV being a crop of the 4:3 FOV are completely false. It certainly had the "effect" of a crop. Comments? Instead of cropping the FOV for 4:3 displays and making all 4:3 owners mad in doing so, we slightly extended the vertical ... |

[quote]If I had to guess, I'd assume that they developed for 16:9, because that's what the 360 is, and that's where they're likely to get the majority of their sales. The majority of their users are 4:3! Just because someone owns a 360 does not mean they're running a HD televion. Just the opposite ... |

That's totally a misleading screenshot though. It implies that the game was built for 4:3 and modified for widescreen, which almost certainly isn't the case. Have you looked at a 16:9 screenshot or the actual graphics in person with this configuration? Have you looked at a 4:3 screenshot or the act... |
