hmmm, guess i should at least try that first. The early reviews I have seen do not seem to indicate it's performing that much better. Bummer, too, as I was looking forward to this one. (I had SO many issues with Arma II, I gave up and un-installed it- was really hoping to give this one a try... May... |

@Chee I was thinking that route too. However, all this mess has turned me off AMD products TBH. I don't prefer one camp from another, so I'm NOT starting a flame war. Like many others, I just want the BEST working product/setup for my budget. I don't fault you for that. Honestly, if "N Surround" wa... |

Hey there Ulysses, Playing titles in DX9 on a DX11 platform is just wrong. I respect the fact that "it does work" in DX9, but for AMD to sell 11 million DX11 compatable GPUs and have end users resort to DX9 hacks, registry hacks, voltage mods, BIOS flashes, active DP adapters and/or profile mods is... |

McKie - really sorry to hear about this... maybe get a nice 30" to help you get used to a single panel again? CHeeWheez - ok, thanks for the info.. going to swap my 1gb for a 2gb very soon.. roll with that for a little bit and get another when I feel I really need more power.. maybe let one more ro... |

[quote]Once again, I had to go back to the 10.4 drivers. Still have the issue where my windows flicker when moving windows around or scrolling and the cursor bug is still present. Also after downloading the 10.6 drivers my BFBC2 game started crashing to desktop on a regular basis. Really starting t... |

I'd have to agree with above, in getting another of the IPS panels. I had 2 2209WAs, and was waiting on a third, and had to use a 19" TN as my middle monitor. NOT fun trying to get things to match/look correctly color wise. I now have the 3 matching 2209s and they rock. You won't be dissapointed! :r... |

It depends on where the 5970 is clocked at. if the 5970 is at 5870 speeds there is hardly any diffrence. keep the 5970 and get a 5850 for tri-Fire! :P Well I can tell you, at least for my paticular 5970, I couldn't get close to what I am achieving on my ASUS ROG 5870s...(1000 core, haven't touched ... |

No true, Even with the Clocks the same, getting 2 GB with 2 5870 2GB cards in Crossfire should perform better than a 5970 2GB (which will give you 1 GB VRAM in Crossfire) when you have a game that uses more than a 1GB of VRAM. It should also help when using higher amounts of Anti-Aliasing and give y... |

[quote][quote]There are definitely advantages to the 5970- there are a few reviews out there that compare, and you'll def see a gain in FPS with the upgrade... Yes, two 5870s, generally speaking, should be faster than a single 5970. (5970 is more like to 5850s in xfire. yes , you can OC 5970 to 5870, but of course you can OC 5870s, too... :D ) That's why I upgraded. I wanted the FASTEST possible Xfire solution for Eyefinity, and the 5970 wasn't cutting it.... |

I got mine on Newegg.com, They get them in fairly often. You can crossfire with a 5870 of any type [VRAM], a 5970, and I'm pretty sure, but not certain that you can do a 5850 of any type as well [VRAM]. I do suggest getting a 5870 with a 2 GB frame buffer though, because if you get one with 1 GB to... |

I have seen a handful of reports that it is working better now. BUT, it seems for every one that says "yes, it works!", there are 3 that say, "not so fast, not for me it doesn't". I am not willing to plunk down 3-700.00 MORE dollars, only to find out I am not one of the "lucky ones". A pair of 5870s... |

I personally have the Dell IPS 2209WAs... They are only 1680x1050, but the bezels are some of the thinnest and non-obtrusive I have found. Take a look at the other ones in the line. Also, the Dell outlet usually has great deals on re-furbs, open box, etc... you just gotta' keep checking as stick is ... |

OK, So I am pretty much fed up with waiting on ATI to "fix" Trifire+Eyefinity , so I have made the decision to abandon my single 5970 and move to a pair of 5870s (the most powerful combo I can find). I really want -and need- the extra horsepower for Eyefinity resolutions. SO... My issue is, does any... |

Hi I currently run a 5970 Along side a 5850 in Tri-Fire Crossfire-X On all drivers bar the 10.x or 8.74 as they are called i cannot use Trifire and Eyefinity. I would get lock ups, game work only use one GPU... Artifacts on anything is full screen mode.. Stuttering in games... you name it i had it.... |
