This is great, you should typ out a good explanation of things and make it a sticky! And by the way, I have made a new thread at Nvidia's Surround forum part, please view it (even AMD users :p) http://widescreengamingforum.com/forum/forums/multi-monitor-gaming/nvidia-surround-gaming/19085/questions-... |

EDIT: I've decided to go with AMD, since Asus just revealed their version of the 7970, which has 4 Displayports! No tearing! Thanks for the feedback anyway, couldn't have done it without you guys. Okay people, please bear with me through this wall of text. English isn't my native language, so do not... |

I've got a similar dilemma, I'm still unsure which 7-series I should buy. The 6GB will be very pricey, so I'm hoping for a 3GB Flex with at least three mini-DP's. That'd be awesome. I've got three exactly similar DVI/HDMI monitors, so getting an 6950 Flex would be perfect for me. However, I'm lookin... |

Does anyone know whether they'll be releasing an AMD 79xx or 78xx 3GB with three mini DP ports? Cause I'd reckon for three screens 3gb should be enough. Also, if I buy an AMD 7970 I'd probably have tearing on one of the monitors because two are connected via mini DP and one is connected via HDMI/DVI... |

So I guess it's obvious I should buy and 7-series and then a Displayport hub.
1. Should I wait for a 7-series Flex edition is released (not the 6gb one) or should I just buy the 7970?
2. How long before a DP 1.2 MST hub is released?
Thanks, Moose |

You know I don't see why the flex cards would produce tearing because electrically DVI and HDMI are equivalent.
If you read carefully you will see I said: "Getting a Flex card means I do NOT have to worry about tearing. |

Buy a 7970. If the screen tearing bothers you then buy an DP 1.2 MST hub (once they're available) and 3 DP->SL-DVI adapters. Buying a 6950 at this point to drive a 5760x1080 setup is bordering on foolish. I'm running a 5870E6 right now and can't wait to upgrade (it's about 5% shy of the 6950 you're... |

I've got three 1920x1080 panels, so that'd be okay. Now it's up to me to choose: -Buy an AMD 6950 Flex and just connect two monitors in the two DVI ports on the card and the remaining monitor on the HDMI port on the card. This means: no hassle with adapters and not having to worry about two differen... |

So DVI-D is compatible with active single-link? Great to hear that!
I just need to know the answer to my last question :p |

Thanks a lot Delphium and Ibrin. First of all, I already have three monitors. It are three IPS panels, with D-Sub (VGA), DVI-D, HDMI as video-input. I hope this means I can use single link active adapter. IF the answer is yes, does that means I can use, for example an 7970, and connect the monitors ... |

That was it! The screen tearing issue. Could you tell me exactly what causes screen tearing and what can be done about it? Because I'm sure I've read somewhere that the Flex edition counters the screentearing problem.
It also has something to do with v-sync, doesn't it?

EDIT: look at this new thread I recently started, because the Flex cards are no longer available. In the new thread a similar option gets discussed. Hello people, I've recently ordered an AMD 6950 Flex because I thought it was the only way to evade all the problems regarding flickering if I want to ... |

This is what I get with the 6950 Flex: Video Adapter: DVI to D-Sub adapter, DVI to HDMI Adapter Video output: DVI-D, DVI-I, HDMI, 2x Mini Display Port Is that enough for a monitor with D-Sub (VGA), DVI-D, HDMI ports? PS: I've also watched this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMVDejZH4kw (I'm t... |

Well, the tearing is an issue for me. So this means I 1. have to get a Flex card, or 2. get three monitors with (mini)DP outputs. However, choice number 2 is very, very expensive. But getting active adapters is also expensive, so I guess I getting a Flex card. Am I about right in my conclusions here? |

Although I said I was typing this on a 2 ms screen, I am probably getting three IPS panels for my new eyefinity setup. They're at 14 ms, and I've read somewhere that 16.7 ms is 1 fps in your game (trying to find the source all morning :~ ) Anyway, IPS panels are of much greater image quality, give m... |

So if I were to connect my monitors like this: 1 x DVI, 1 x HDMI and 1 x DVI to mDP, will it work? Or is the Flex edition just an overall better choice? |

The funny thing is this: Your card: http://www.overclockersclub.com/vimages/sapphire_hd6950_flex/10.jpg My (future) card: http://nl.msi.com/pic/product/five_pictures2_2333_20110221144956.jpg it has the same connectors, right? There is one other way though, I could connect one monitor to DVI, the second with an adapter to the HDMI port and the third one with an adapter to the apple-mini-displayport. Will this cause any problems and/or difference in the display-quality? EDIT: I read your post again ;p When you use one DP-c... |

I do need to mention that IPS display's cost much more, and have a much greater response time. For gaming, a screen of 5 ms or faster is recommended. However, IPS has improved on the response times, but it will cost you. I'm not the one saying that you will notice the 5 ms of a TN panel versus the 8... |
