Hi everyone,
Ralph here, just another gamer located in Belgium.
Since I recently had the opportunity to get my rig back to the "high-end" category I was looking into the possibility for a multi monitor setup.
After a bit of searching (I appear to have the worst monitor ever to find decent info) I decided to look for answers here on the forum and try to get all info so when the next opportunity rises I can take good educated decisions.
Some info about the rig and it's history:
Currently I am using a single VG278H 27" monitor powered by a single GTX 770, the 4Gig version. That GPU is located on a Asus P6TSE motherboard equipped with a i7 950 with stock cooling and 3x4 Gig of ram (unfortunately it uses only 8 for some reason). Further there are 2 HDD's and a vertex 3 SDD. All this is located snug in a Antec twelve hundred case.
Yes, I can hear you questioning the "high end" statement I made above.
What you see above is actually a desperate attempt to keep up with technology.
The original setup was the P6TSE Mobo with the CPU and 2x2gig of ram with a GTX 460 and 1 HDD.
I wanted to upgrade this by buying another GTX 460 but the mobo only supports AMD crossfire.
So I gave up on the idea and upgraded to a bit more ram and my extra HDD & SSD.
Last summer I decided it was time to switch the GTX 460 for a GTX 770 model. So I did.
So there I was stuck with a single nvidia GPU on a 1st i7 gen mobo and 1st gen i7 with ram memory that was being used 2/3.
As of this month I can say that those problems are over!
Currently in order & soon to be build
:
Asus Rampage IV Black Edition
I7 4820K
Obsidian 900D case
extra stick of ram so it will be 4x 4gig Ram (need Quad channel for the mobo)
Up to 3 GTX 770's will be used whether I go widescreen or not.
The old HDD's and SSD will be used and I am working on the final touches before building a Watercooling loop.
(The sleeving and lighting will also be done)
As you might notice by now I am very excited to test & show it to the world!
ANYWAY this is WideScreenGamingForum so let's talk monitors
.
As stated above I currently have a single VG278H 27" monitor and I am thinking of upgrading/replacing it so i can get a Triple monitor 3D setup.
I have many questions but I'll (try) use the subforums accordingly.
If you have any more/other questions please do ask.
