another suggestion for the forum that I thought of once it's upgraded maybe the ability to approve a single post ("+1" it) and view the total number of approbation a single post received could be helpful in this forum for example a guy says : "this solution works" 3 other persons click "+1" and then when someone else view the thread he knows that at least 4 persons got it working. Just a thought though, discuss or do whatever you want with it. PS: of course that's for the future, after upgrading the forum... |

Isn't that something like the "thank this person" option? I believe that's a standard feature of phpbb3. |

(if that is really the case) though I prefer to use the term "approbation" rather than "just a thanks" because it applies to more things you don't thank a person which has the same problem as you with no solution if you see what I mean. |

Reputation systems are nice, as long as people with high reps don't act like mods. |

Reputation systems are nice, as long as people with high reps don't act like mods. that wasn't at all what I had in mind and I think User Reputation brings nothing to the table after having experienced it in Rage3D.com ... the main point is the "NOT per user, but per post" example: you "thank" or "give +1" to a post, and this specific post displays that it has been approved one more time... no user "score" is kept ... |

A 'Post' score I'd be more in favour of than a rep system, to be honest. The only forum I've seen where rep isn't used as a form of one-upmanship is OCN. |

Ah, a lot of blog comment systems do that. I wouldn't be opposed to it. |

As long as you cant give negative 'points' I feel that its great. It creates an incentive to help out. |

I don't really see how this would differ from giving a person points. Posts are not anonymous after all. Then again, everyone may just ignore the scores if they object anyway. It's not like there are any actual consequences ;) |
