Actually FYI, native vert - would result in a higher score. Games where hor + is possible but the devs leave it up to hackers to implement it tend to carry steep point penalties. This is probably the only instance where higher score does not equal better WS experience.

Fair enough. Aside from that note is it fair to say that my original statement is true?

I would say that a DR should be based on on the solution that gives the best widescreen experience.

My impression is that the grade a game earns is based on its built-in support (or lack thereof) of widescreen out-of-the-box. Is this accurate?

On the other side of the issue, we specialize in providing gamers with the best solutions available to get their games running in widescreen.

So, the question seems to be which of those points is the primary purpose of a DR? I would think the former. Of course, a DR could contain data on both those points, unless we decide it shouldn't. Perhaps we just need to delineate between grading and optimal WS solutions available (hacks, edits, tools, etc.).

If I'm not making sense I'll try again after some sleep. :)

If anyone cares to look, the FOV tool solution is already in the wiki.

I think that the report and score should be based on native support, but have any extensions with which to enable proper support mentioned in the DR.

The goal of the DR an the Wiki is to give the Hor+ solution to people. If you can please do a DR with the Hor+ solution, then I can create the Wiki page. We can note in the Wiki page that Vert- is included natively.

Not always. If the WS support can be significantly improved by "not out-of-the-box" methods, then the grade is based on that solution.

So, the question seems to be which of those points is the primary purpose of a DR?

The latter. It wouldn't make much sense to focus on out-of-the-box support when it's possible to significantly improve the WS experience by way of external tools.

I think that the report and score should be based on native support,

If we did that, many games would get no report at all and no score at all, because there are a TON of games that completely lack native support but can be tweaked to support it serviceably or better.

So, can we get a new DR based on the new patch and the FOV tool?

If Pyro doesn't revise his and no one else steps in, I can add it to my list for attention after I've completed my BFME2 mod. It's going to be awhile, though, since I still have a considerable amount of work to do. I'm speaking in terms of weeks, not days, FYI.
