Its called edge distortion which gives a fisheye effect.
This is normal for all games.

That's depressing, makes the whole mutli monitor thing seem gimmicky in FPS's, well at least at this resolution. it looks pretty awful. Is there any solutions for that? would turning the FOV all the way down work?

Turning the FOV down would eliminate the fish-eye. It would also defeat the purpose of using a wide aspect ratio, since the appeal is having *more* FOV. Decreasing the FOV is the same thing as zooming in.
