Ping is the thing ... as Doug and Paradigm Shifter say ...

Do a ping to Google ... from what I understand of it all you really need the average to be about 37ms in order to have good online gaming ... whatever the connection speed.
I have a 3MB connection but my ping is bad as my connection is wireless so online gaming is a no go for me ... the interruptions are too annoying.

If I ping someone in our Chat, I get

PING reply] : 1.578 seconds :shock:

My Inet route is

House dish to bird
bird to Washington DC
then to site I requested

& all the way back again

Anything <100 used to be considered playable in the days of 56k modems. But <40 was considered ideal.
