I installed the archive version of the mod and I'm getting texture errors and I even crashed! I'll do some more testing after I restart.

Mine was failed crc so I got the .exe version instead, I prefer zips, they don't fail nearly as often as .rar or .ace. And they don't have the high risk of .exe either.

Far Cry deal has ended. Ubisoft are thinking of making it free again soon!

Apparently you are right. I downloaded from GamersHell.com and tried to install. First thing it did was ask me for my Ubi.com login, which I then entered and curiously it says "Sorry you must live in the U.S. to play this title". I live in the U.S. and double-checked that my Ubi.com account indicates that I do. So I'm confirmed that they have shut this promotion down.

Area 51 and Full Spectrum Warrior are now free.

Area 51 is pretty useless but FSW might be worth a punt.

Quite true. Though this may have just been the mechanism through which they disabled the installation of this "free" download". Instead of a message saying "this promotion has closed" they chose to use this apparently arbitrary message.

Got this e-mail shortly after attempting to install the "Free" Far Cry:

Thank you for downloading one of the promotional PC titles made available for ad-supported freeplay over the Labor Day weekend. The promotion is now closed and it is no longer possible to play the games for free.

If you are interested in further information on these titles, please visit our official website at http://www.ubi.com

At any rate I bought it on Steam this morning.
