Post subject:  Huge thanks

Me again, MASSIVE thanks to Racer_S for the DX10 patch it works a treat! Woo hoo! The game looks so much better with the hack it's not even funny!

I have noticed that occasionally the shaders/textures take a split second to load-in on an object after the game has loaded (meaning for a split-second some objects are low-res, then go back to normal) but it's barely noticeable... this is from a loaded slot of a non-hacked play through, so i'll try a new game. I'm certainly not complaining!!! Just thought you'd want to know of any bugs! Thanks again, finally I can enjoy the game :)

I'd also like to say thanks to Paddy The Wak for brining this issue to light, and Googlestater & Drexion for the very comprehensive how-to on the FOV settings :)

Saw the news earlier about v1.2 with additional support for DX10 and re-instated my Steam purchase, although I loath the whole root-kit thing I am weak, plain and simple.

If memory serves there was an option to show appreciation to Racer_S by was of a donation, might be a good time to re-post that link if someone has a copy of it.

I wouldn’t suggest we discus this in the Widescreen topic but if you want to continue discussing it I will post a response in the "Why I won't buy Bioshock." thread.

Also because it's the right thing to do. It would be selfish to be satisfied with a fanmade hack that only a small percentage of Bioshock players with widescreens are aware of and have the technical experience and knowledge to use.

what FOV values are you guys using? I have a 37" monitor

I saw another message back in the early-mid twenties that said the correct ratios are 0.84 for both width and height...anyone else care to comment?

From teh Games list solution:

You can obtain this hack here:
http://dl.tocaedit.com/bioshockdFOV.zip

1. Run the hack.

2. Set your desired "Width FOV" and "Height FOV"
(Please refer to the readme.txt that came with the hack for more details)

3. Run the Game.

4. Press the "*" to activate the FOV settings once in game.

If you like the hack, please consider donating to the creator.

Paddywak EDIT: ...
The current version of the tool works in both XP and Vista 23 and 64.

I found that 16:9 users should set it to:
Width FOV: 0.75
Height FOV: 0.75

16:10 users:
Width FOV: 0.84
Height FOV: 0.84[/color]
