Dunno, if we have any Planetside types here, but there is gonna be a sequel next year. Planetside is one of only 2 real MMOFPS's, World War II Online being the other. Heres a flavour of the scale PS was capable off.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=occDTiseJLI |

I remember PlanetSide fondly. I was a 1 man army taking down key bases within 5 minutes for bases without defenses, 15 for bases with. Complete generator pop and bail leaving them to have to come clear up the mess. I want to see what PS2 has to offer before throwing down on yet another of SOE's games that can't keep a population. |

Post subject: | SOE have claimed that |
SOE have claimed that Planetside 2 can support 2000 players on a single map. 3 factions and all PvP. 2000 players on one map in an FPS is unprecedented, the mind boggles It's also going to be free 2 play. I have no idea about widescreen support, I pm'd the lead dev about it but got no reply. It is using SOE's in house Forgelight engine which is also going to power Everquest 3. Check out the teaser video here... http://www.planetside2.com/ Teaser video is a bit pointless as it only shows a small skirmish no bigger than a BC2 match. Here's hoping the next video they release shows off the true scale of the game. They are aiming the hardware requirement at 5 year old PC's, that and it being free2play could mean this game might actually be a success. Planetside 1 failed on day 1 really due to it needing a monster PC to run and the limited availability of broadband at the time. Lets hope SOE don't make a balls out of it, like they've done with so many potentially great MMO's. |

Post subject: | I loved the original |
I loved the original Planetside. It's the only MMO I've ever played. I just loved the fact I could get a huge transport plane, wait around for a squad to jump on board, fly above an enemy base and then watch everyone bail out before joining them myself. The only shame was once you logged on the next day, all your hard work was undone! |
