I was wondering how I can play Silent Hill 4 at 1680x1050... the highest resolution I can do now is 400x300 with black bars on the side which I can't stand. I have a 6800 GT and Dell 2005FP 20" widescreen with 72.20 drivers.

You will need to add some custom resolutions in the NV control panel to be able to select the rest of them. eg. 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024.

To unlock other resolutions You have to rename file CheckSpec.dll (located in Your Silent Hill 4 game directory) to something like CheckSpecdll.bak. Then just run the game and set any resolution You want but I am affraid that the highest resolution You will be able to choose is 1024x768. But it is better than nothing I suppose.

If anybody finds out how to run this great game in widescreen or nonscretch mode write a reply please.
