I just got my new Dell 2005FPW and I need some help getting UT2004 up and running correctly. I cahnged the res to 1680x1050 but it only allows me to change the FOV up to 100 throught the settings menu. I tried using the console but it didn't seem to work.

Can someone tell me how to change the FOV higher than 100 in the game and also tell me what FOV is best for the 16:10 ratio with clearity beign more important than max angel with fisheye.

Also, any tips or tricks for Far Cry?

you have to edit the config file as far as i am aware, the res and also the FOV are tweakable in the config file for far cry so i believe

you can change the FOV for UT2k4 by bringing down the console
press the tilde key to bring the console down

there you can type in the following command

fov ###

for example if you want a FOV of 120 just type

fov 120

you will see your view expand

this speeds up your game and makes everything in front of you seem furhter away

you can always go into your INI and do it that way but this lets you do it on the fly

you can also type preferences at the console

this will give you direct access to your INI while your in the game

here you can find a whole bunch of ingame options and key binds that can be helpful

FOV when using a widescreen will make the view look normal when set to the proper value. For UT2004 and a 1680x1050 resolution 16:10 ratio like we have (I use a Dell 2005FPW), you want a value of 102.38 or so (there's a thread somewhere on this forum with the proper value, this one is from memory so check for the thread to find out the value you should use... this is roughly it though). On a normal screen, it would cause a fisheye effect like the poster above described, but on a widescreen, it makes the graphics properly drawn geometrically. Too high and you get a fishbowl effect again... too low and the image is "squished" downward.

This is interesting info I will soon find out how it all looks as soon as i get my Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW
I have a feeling im going to have to tweak tweak tweak to get everything just right if it's even possible on my 9800XT

I'm used to play on a Dell 2001FP LCD with a FOV of 118 on UT2k4

I think this is the thread your talking about GT
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/

I wonder how this monitor does out of its native rez of 1920x1200
something like say 1680x1050 with UT2k4
vsync should be enabled from what im seeing on these forums but since this would be a lower setting than the native for the 2405FPW then i guess im going to have to wait and see

eventually im hoping that SLI matures enough so that I can eventually purchase the 6800 GTs
