I've got the same problem with the MP5 showing off the shoulder (is that just when you wear camo?). Doesn't seem to happen with any of the other weapons that I tried though, which is really odd... I'm using the FwO_FarCry2_FOV_02 tool with 1.0 and it works just great!

Registered to thank Racer_S for the great tool and keeping it updated!!

I also want to confirm that I'm also experiencing the "shoulder-bug" with the silenced MP5. I'm not sure it can be fixed from Racer_S' side, but I hope something can be done.

[EDIT]
I wanted to add that I haven't bought the camo suit and yet I see the shoulder exactly like in Tumdance's screenshot.

The "camo shoulder" problem doesn't seem to be consistent -- I'm running Racer_S's 4.0 tool with X = 1.2 and Y = 1.3333 and don't see my shoulder at all with camo + the silenced MP5. What's weird is that with version 3.0, I could see a little bit of shoulder (not as much as in the screenshot a page or two back), but it's disappeared since I started using 4.0.

And let me also add my thanks to Racer_S for this fix! Your hard work is very much appreciated!

Its just because the devs made the game to work with vert- on purpose... so they didnt bother to properly model the shoulder..

Thats alright I didn't much fancy silenced weapons anyways, I prefer the .50 cal..

Its just because the devs made the game to work with vert- on purpose... so they didnt bother to properly model the shoulder..

I very much doubt that ... it is just a clipping issue and most likely because the tool settings are incorrect ... those settings I posted for the fixer were just approximate ... :wink:

Use the settings Elvin Presler posted and the problem should be gone ...
kikori is using them and he doesn't have the shoulder problem.


Here they are ...

X FOV: 1.2
Y FOV: 1.333

Let us know if that sorts it out ... 8)

Hmm, just noticed when you're using the in-game screenshot-function, it always captures the screenshot on the default FOV-values. Still, a very small bit of the shoulder can be seen even when not using the FOV Tool at all (see below).
I used Fraps to capture these screenshots from Far Cry 2 v1.01 on 1680x1050 with the FOV Tool v4.0. Resized them to 800x500 and brightened them up.


Tool unactive (still a very small bit of the shoulder visible in the bottom left corner).


Tool active but disabled (used hotkey "/" )


X FOV=1.31
Y FOV=1.253



X FOV=1.2
Y FOV=1.333

From playing with the settings, 1.27/1.323 works best for me for 16:9 rez.

I'm running FC2 on my 1440x900 monitor, with the FoV settings at x=1.2, y=1.333. My scope sight looks circular and I'm happy with the result. But I'd like to understand the actual significance of the numbers. How do they relate to 16:10, or to 1440x900? I think I understand all the arguments as presented here and elsewhere, but I am unable to tie the numbers up properly, so something seems to be missing.

If I want to recalculate the FoVs for my TV, 1366x768, how would I do this if I didn't just want to rely on trial and error?

the only reason that works is cause it reduces the fov so that you cant see that shoulder...

the fact of the matter is that ubi didnt properly model that part of the shoulder and they didnt want that part of the shoulder visible..

its no a clipping issue its an issue with ubisoft being lazy..

Working from 16:12 (4:3) as the default, with X=1.0 and Y=1.333...

For 16:N, divide 12 by N to get your new X. So 1.2 for 16:10 and 1.333 for 16:9.
