The FOV in the 1920x1200 shot is wrong... it's zoomed to far out (look at the gun compared to the normal shot).

No the FOV is correct ... the view of the gun is a little wider ...
This is because the FOV and the view of the gun are linked ...

This often happens in games that do support widescreen or even worse it cuts part of the gun off whilst giving the correct FOV.

As they are linked if you make the FOV wider then you make the gun smaller see the Triplehead shot.

For me ... I would much rather a slightly smaller gun or to put it another way see more of the gun in return for the correct FOV.

It by passes Punkbuster
? And why ? Punmkbuster protects the game , weakly i admit, but it's still a small protection.

It often kicks people who hacked something about the game because it thinks they are cheaters, thus not allowing for FOV hacks.

As ctrlsteef says ... Punkbuster is to catch punks ... cheaters etc. and often hacks like this cause you to get busted ... and kicked off a server.
Punkbuster will still be running checking for real cheats it just shouldn't recognise this as a cheat ...

The hack works as an independent programme using dll injection and so Punkbuster should/may not recognize the changes ... but as I say I'm still testing it ...
I have played for a couple of hours on line this morning using version 1 of the game ... everything is fine.
I'm downloading the 1.3 Patch to try that out for a few hours too.

Once version 1.4 is full and not beta we will be trying to get the FOV tool to work with it too ...

on one side in exited about this like everyone.. but screwing with PB is dangerous.. specialy if its directly with PB... they might not like it... and HW ban you... that means canot play any pb games... it not.. then its a kick from the bf2 server only, or maybe a ban.. at pb discretion

they might 'silent' catch it and do nothing until the day they clean house....

Wow, that 3x3 shot  is crazy! Reminds me of squished PB&J sandwich.

Has anyone given the 1.4 beta patch a try yet? I'd much rather just have DICE release an official fix so we can all get on with our lives.
