I envy all those that have working scaling options with their drivers.

This is the only reason that I might buy Vista.

Dude, Vista is shiiit
Keep XP but download the latest drivers from the nVidia website for your card, and the nVidia Control Panel it installs, will have these scaling options in it.

I keep installing the newest full and beta drivers. Whenever I choose the use nvidia correct aspect scale and the no scaling the option reverts back to the original as soon as I click Apply.

Vista on the other hand works.

In the spirit of an earlier message on this thread......

Here's what happens when I use each setting, with a resolution of 800x600 on my 1440x900 screen.

Use NVIDIA scaling -
The 4:3 picture fills my screen completely, causing stretching. The monitor "sees" a 1920x1200 resolution.

Use NVIDIA scaling with fixed-aspect ratio -
The 4:3 picture fills the horizontal span of my screen, but not the full vertical span, creating black bar in the wrong place!. The aspect ratio is stretched further. The monitor "sees" a 1440x900 resolution.

Use my display's built-in scaling -
The 4:3 picture fills my screen completely, causing stretching

Do not scale -
The picture is displayed in a little window in the middle of the screen, surrounded by thick black borders. It is still stretched.

Drivers 163.71, graphics 7600GS. I despair of NVIDIA ever getting this right.

No scaling should not result in a scretched image. It simply displays the original image in its original resolution, centered.
