Now that is just silly, if anything then any widescreen resolution should have been supported instead of ported directly from the consoles. Ah well, I still have my receipt, might as well get something else for now ;)

That is going to be in the hands of Pandemic (the developer). Knowing how Pandemic dealt with their games in the past (updates, bugfixes) I am inclined to say "not for a long while" to "no", but that's just me being devil's advocate... :?

Native Res Widescreen Support

Solution: (thanks to AstreaEdge)
If using an Nvidia card, you can create a custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel (under Display Manage custom resolutions). For 1680x1050 native res, create a 1680x945 (59hz) resolution to have it selectable in game. This will add thin black bars to the top and bottom of the screen, but the pixels will be 1:1.

---------------

It works.
Not sure how or why but it works.
Game actually looks tons better in proper widescreen.

Does anyone know where the custom resolutions tab is under the 1.5.30.22 version of the control panel?

Alex

EDIT: My bad, updated drivers, all good now. Cheers mengzor for the link!

Since it's probably d3d based, one of those resolution overriders might work for widescreen or th2g resolutions.

Softth makes one of em but theres more than one.

Mercenaries 2 Custom Resolution Launcher

Edit Mercs2.ini in your game folder then run this utility. Leave it running during game startup or it will not work.

Let me know, and Have Fun!

EDIT: I could have edited the game executable but its kinda big. So this will do.
