I've tried that tool on tales of monkey island and it's working just fine with it.
Bu it isn't working on Sam and Max Season one.
It always tells me "File prefs.prop not found." but it's defenely there.
Hope someone can help me.

Make sure that TTRes.exe is run from the game directory where the prefs.prop file is such as:
C:Program FilesTelltale GamesSam and Max - Season OneEpisode 101 - Culture Shock
C:Program FilesTelltale GamesSam and Max - Season OneEpisode 102 - Situation Comedy
C:Program FilesTelltale GamesSam and Max - Season OneEpisode 103 - The Mole, The Mob, and the Meatball
C:Program FilesTelltale GamesSam and Max - Season OneEpisode 104 - Abe Lincoln Must Die
C:Program FilesTelltale GamesSam and Max - Season OneEpisode 105 - Reality 2.0
C:Program FilesTelltale GamesSam and Max - Season OneEpisode 106 - Bright Side of the Moon

If the program is saying "File prefs.prop not found." Then it means just that. It can not find the file in the directory TTRes is being run from.

You may need the latest version of S&M S1 downloaded from TTG if your directories don't match the above. I'm not sure if the patcher will work with the original versions of the game before TTG updated S&M S1 to use the S2 engine.

I did run TTres from the game directory where the prefs.prop file is.
And I just downloaded Episode 101 and 104 just before I downloaded this tool.
So it is the latest version.

...there's also another person on this german forum http://www.adventure-treff.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15165, who's got exactly the same problem.

(I've downloaded the game at telltalegames.com so it's not a german version of the game.)

Hmm... must be a Vista conflict. Try copying the S&M prefs.prop file and TTRes.exe over to your documents directory and see if it works there.

Hey!
That actually did work for episode 104.
It didn't for 101 though.
The tool is telling me, that everything is working juast fine, but the result is nit widescreen.
Can't tell for other episode because I don't have them installed right now.

On the german vista version the folder Program Files is called Programme.
Do you think that this may have caused the problems?

anyway I'm glad it's at least working for 104
thanks

No, the name should have nothing to do with it. Most likely it has something to do with UAC or some other rights issue with access to files in the Program Files directory. I just quickly wrote the program and as I do not use Vista on my gaming machine, I did not check to see if I needed to do anything extra to make it compatible with Vista.

Don't know why 101 did not work. Try again and pick read after to confirm the resolution is a valid mode for your video card.

Can't remember if I told you this, but always make sure to run each game past the demo and select a new resolution in game that is different then the default. This gets the prefs.prop file ready for patching.

thanks again
I think I just have ruined it for 104 too.
I was changing resolution in the game options after I had patched prefs.prop.
I wanted to try out otger graphic quality options and klickes the apply button.
...yeah, I know. It's my own fold...
The Game switched back to 4:3 ratio.
I've tried to patch it again afterwards, bit it didn't work anymore.
The tool was telling me, that it found the resolutien, that I patched it to before.
Patching again didn't do anything.
I've taken prefs.prop out of the folder it's belonging because as far as I remember the Game was building a new one if it's missing.
But after playing and changing settings again, there was no new prefs.prop file.
I guess I'm screwed now.

You now know why I do not use vista for my game machine.

Can't help you much, other then tell you that vista must be putting the file somewhere else. If you can change game settings, then there must be a prefs.prop file somewhere. Do a search for all prefs.prop files on c:. Of course it may be in a hidden directory and vista search seems to miss files sometimes.

You may need to look in the hidden application data folder in c:documents and settingsyour account -- or whatever it is called in vista.

you really think so?
I mean, if the Program/Game trys to put a file in a certain folder, vista is puttung it somewhere else?
Can hardly imagine that.

It's worth a try to do a search including hidden folders. Vista does what vista wants.

If you can save your settings and the file is not in the normal folder, this is because vista has put it in the hidden area used for seperate login accounts. XP can do this too but it happens less often.

yeah, Itries searching them. Didn't find anything tho.
I don't know how to search for hidden folders.
I'll try to find something about that with google now

Edit: I found the option to show me all the hidden files.
Still there is nothing new in the results.

OK, so I will use the tool on all the other episodes.
Thanks for the effort
