Strange, Let me know if you ever figure it out.

I just tried S&M 101 on Vista64. TTRes worked fine for me in the game directory. I even tried 640x480 and it worked great. I deleted the prefs.prop file and when I ran the game the prefs.prop file came back and I could edit it fine.

Of course I have UAC and alot of the other annoying vista features disabled. You could try temporarily disabling UAC. Then run the game and set a video mode like usual. See if the prefs.prop file comes back, then run TTRes. Then re-enable UAC if you want.

1 last thing. Remember after you use TTRes, the game resolution does change, but it still shows the old resolution in the options menu. Also if you change any video options or possibly even any other option, you will need to run TTRes again.

could you explain what you did?
I've got Vista 64 and I need to run TTres in administrator mode for it to be able to find prefs.prop.
It finds it, it patches it ok but then the game (SamMax101) ignores the setting.
My resolution is 1600x900

Quick update: it works! I just needed to run the game as an administrator.
I suspect I could look into the properties of prefs.prop to see if it now requires administrator priviledges.
Anyway, that's fantastic!
