I took a screenshot in both 1600x900 and 1680x1050 and they both have the exact same FOV, the 16x9 image is just a little bit squished, so I was wrong, it's not as you illustrated above.

The game seems to grab the aspect ratio for the game from your desktop resolution. If your desktop resolution was still 16:10 and you tried a 16:9 in-game resolution, then it's going to stretch the in-game display.

Checking the Gamerprofile under Docs/My Games/Farcry2.

I saw these two options.. I havnt seen them brought up in this thread yet. Does anyone know if they have any impact on this issue?

ForceWidescreen="0" AspectRatio="0"

"0" being the default value

If you read the thread post #8 beat you to it... :twisted:

Oh well.. this is officially the first game i have ever had nausea while playing. Even bioshock didn't make me feel like this despite my annoyances over their crappy implementation.

I guess I'll add my two cents; whats the point of my 19" widescreen monitor, I might as well get my old 17" crt from the basement. This is a major FAIL on Ubi's part. But I'm sure they or someone here will come up with a fix for it, just need to be patient, the games only been out a few days.

Sure, but that implies that 4:3 is the default.

It will want to make people "correct" it to match 4:3, when they should be correcting it to match 16:9.

Yeah, this makes sense. After reading that FC2 was "vert -," I started playing the game at 1600x1200 (4:3) instead of my native 1920x1200 (16:10). I figured I would rather play with black bars than with a stretched image. But I noticed that at 1600x1200, the image appeared compressed - people's faces were too thin! So now I'll experiment with other resolutions. Which is better, do you think: playing at 1920x1200 or some lower res with proper FOV?

4:3 definitely isn't right. Most of the world looks fine, except for the people who look to thin. Although a fix is best case scenario, what resolution does the group feel is the best for now? I'm liking it too much to stop playing altogether.

Have none of you read this?

I have my video card set so that it doesn't allow games to do that. It will create bars to establish the in-game resolutions I desire.

That setting hasn't nothing to do with the aspect ratio the game is rendering for, Shifteer. Change your desktop to a 4:3 resolution before running that game in a 4:3 resolution and you'll see the difference.
