It's a big mixup because of the renaming of the companies.

Irrational/2K Boston/2K Australia (same company) didn't handle the porting to the PC, they were actually the developer of it for the 360 and the PC. The only outside team they used was 2K Marin and that was only for the PS3 port.

2K Marin developed BioShock 2 (with a little assistance from Irrational), and 2K Marin only has five former employees from Irrational.

They also had outside assistance for things like multiplayer and level design.

Any word on whether the newly released patch helps TH2Go/Eyefinity setups?

It scales horizontally as of the first patch. However, the HUD elements are stretched.

I haven't played the original since it was out. Was that the same with the original after it was patched?

Bioshock 2 will support single-screen 4:3, 5:4, 16:9 and 16:10 resolutions. The game has been optimized to ensure that all game elements such as menus, HUD, UI, etc appear exactly the same regardless of what resolution the user is running the game at.

I do not think it means what you think it means.

Fovfix from HaYDen does not work with 1.002? It does not work for me...

Does it even work in DirectX 9 Mode?

It's not clear on where this game sits now

Especially since it's not listed in the games list.

Are there any more patches coming? What's the behaviour now?

A bit late but I'm workin' on it... Patch 1.03 added nothing new widescreenwise. The patched game is natively Hor+, with Vert- player hands/weapons - exactly like the patched Bioshock 1.
You can also mod the FOV à la Borderlands (here's how).
In multi-mon, the HUD stretches and water drops dripping across your visor are swollen badly, which sucks (Bioshock1 used a different FX iirc).
Screenies soon...
