I believe we already have solutions for AvP2 and for Chronicles of Riddick: Developers Cut.

CoR:EfBB:DC supports widescreen natively, even giving control of aspect ratios.

AvP2 works via an edit and a console cheat, if I remember correctly. Paddy the Wak came up with that, I think... :?:
