Post subject:	Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance WS solution?
Well, here I go requesting a WS hack for another outdated game. I did not see an entry for Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance on the Game List, so I figured I'd post here. Do any of you know if there is a WS hack for this game in existence? Thanks in advance. :)

Nope. Widescreen doesn't work with this game - I tried hunting for a way to fix it in the .exe, but any changes make the game go bananas at load. Truth be told, I haven't managed to get this to play nice with XP anyway, so I'll be keeping an old Win 98 box around to play it on. ;)

I got it to play fine under XP... sort of. The graphics work, but after a few minutes in a mission the sound starts to go sour. Also, the game does not register me beating the 3rd mission, even when I do. So I can't go any farther than that. A shame, really. The game is easily the best Star Wars space battle flight sim ever made, IMO. So who is in charge of adding this to the Game List as incompatible with WS? EDIT: Nevermind, I just realized it is on the List under "X". Heh... :lol:

It seems to be a DirectX error for me. Doesn't matter what DX version I use, either: 8, 9a, 9b, 9c (this one breaks Oni and several other DX7 games, too, which makes me less than happy) or even forcing an install of 6 (which comes with XWA) doesn't change the message that pops up at load.
