I'm oonfused....I thought Half-Life 2 had native widescreen support. Yet, when I installed it and told it to play I get a blank screen from my tv (Sony KDFE55A20). The pc is running at 1152x684 (the only res I can get to work well with this tv). Please help me figure out what's up! |

It has widescreen support. It support 4:3, 16:10 and 16:9. What do you mean by "Yet, when I installed it and told it to play I get a blank screen from my tv (Sony KDFE55A20). " Told it to play? did you start a map or just tried to launch the game and then it went black? Hook up a regular monitor and start HL2 and go to options>video and choose aspect ratio to match your sony screen and choose a resolution that it can handle and click ok. then hook up your tv and it should work. You should only choose aspect ratio and resolution the tv can show. Check out what the speccs says. |

THe TV is at 16:9 (can tell by looking at DISPLAY info). The game goes blank when I try and start it up. This is really weird. At this point I'm wondering if there's something screwed up with the OS.... It just doesn't make any sense. |

JediRory, what was that post good for? no info. Have you tried hooking it up to a regular monitor and choose the correct aspect ratio and resolution as I said? No point to answer with NO helpful info. The 16:9 info wasn´t info as I don´t think anyone here thought a tv would have a different aspect ratio and I have already read the info at the manufaturer site. |

wtf? 1152x684? i thought HDMI only allowed for proper hdtv resolutions, ie 1280x720, and 1920x1080, so you must be using analog. |

As far as I know you use Steam for starting HL2 right? So make a shortcut to HL2 via Steam on your desktop. Go to properties of the shortcut and select in compatibility mode for forced 640x480 start. Your screen could handle 480i right? Then change the right resolution in HL2.. Edit: Plus try to install newer/other drivers. Try drivers from http://www.dna-drivers.com/ They support Widescreen resolutions |

Thanks for the help, guys...I'm still working on this. I reformatted my PC on the offshoot that there was something jacked up with the OS. So far, not much improvement. I'll try the DNA drivers. PowerStrip is doing jack for me right now, but that's probably my inexperience with the app. It's just plain weird that I can't get this to work right.... |

And here is more info about that TV. LOL, no it's JUST RIGHT. ;) Actually, it's a great set....really bright, everything. I just wish I could get the native res on it (I'm positive it would look even better then). |
