I'll know whether or not this one can be done in 11 days. ;)

Until then, have you checked out the registry, or any .ini files? They're the best place to start looking. :)

its possible to get the game to run in WS by changing the ini file to whatever resolution you want. However when playing the game, parts of the 2d screens are cut off making it impossible to play

It is certainly dissapointing, I went ahead and changed my .ini file to reflect 1680x1050, while it does indeed work, you lose about an inch on top and the bottom of the screen. Also, 3rd person scenes you end up with a very odd ghosting effect, almost like it's creating two images at the same time.

It's not the monitor doing it, for whatever reason the game engine itself is having a hard time with such a resolution.

Anyhow, I REALLY hope someone finds a way to mod this game, the image looks pretty crappy at any other resolution and I love the game!

Anyone who comes up with something, let us know!!! 8)

Been messing around with this one here lately. And yeah, running at any widescreen res, cuts the top and bottom off. And, it seems that setting it at any 4:3 ratio res above 1024, causes a Direct X error.

So the best thing I've found for me...to run at high res, and not have the screen get cut off, is run in Windowed Mode. I know it sucks, but it's the only way for now (that I know of).

In the config...I set my res to 1440x1080 to keep the 4:3 ratio, and to be able to fit it all on the screen in windowed mode.

Then just add this line to the config -

FullScreen = 0

And it works. Just move the window so it's centered. If you maxamize the window, it still works, but it causes your cursor to not line up properly with obejcts in the game.

So that's what I do....

I just tried this - it works, sort of.

The top is still slightly chopped for me, and having to guesstimate where I need to put the cursor to click is an absolute nightmare! ;)

I found that even in windowed mode, the cursor is still off...but only by a tiny bit. Not enough to cause a problem...for me anyway. Were you running windowed...without maximizing?

And that res was good for my 20"...it didn't cut off any of the game. Maybe try a slightly lower res.

I was hoping that Pirates would deal with (screen native res) windows in the same way as Hitman 2 and Contracts: they act like it's fullscreen, which is quite useful. :D

I think it's the titlebar that chops the top of the screen off, but it's still kind of annoying to have the startbar sitting there when I'm playing. ;)

After experimenting a bit, though, it tends to chug quite badly on my laptop at WSXGA+ res... so I'll stick to it being stretched for the time being.
