I downloaded and tried the latest patch, and it does give the option for the widescreen resolutions. But, if you set it through the game it is not Hor+ it is stretched. You can still use the .ini solution and get Hor+. This is how it worked for me, anyway. If, possible could someone else confirm this. I will try to get some screen shots later.

Is there any chance that there will be a patch/widescreen fix for the expansion? The one posted on this thread doesn't work on the new version, which has a config.exe thing that stores the resolution info somewhere else. :(

Anvile,
The original solution does work for the expansion pack. The settings.cfg is in the TimeGate Studios directory instead of the Monolith one.

Here;
:Documents and SettingsAll Users[Shared] DocumentsTimeGate StudiosFEARXPsettings.cfg

Locate the following lines:
"ScreenWidth" "xxxx"
"ScreenHeight" "yyyy"

Change "xxxx" to your horizontal resolution and "yyyy" to your vertical resolution.

For example, to change the resolution to 1680x1050 the lines would read:
"ScreenWidth" "1680"
"ScreenHeight" "1050"

Thanks to Lloyd1337 for posting the Method for the original version.

weird issue: when I try and set a custom rez in the setting.cfg to:

1440x900

The Game reverts back to 800x600. This is with the Extraction Point.

I have a 19"wide LG LCD, and I managed to run FEAR in 1440x900, the maximum resolution of my flat. The problem is that in this resolution the game is laggy, because of my video card (7300gt). So how can I run the game in 960x600, because when I enter this resolution in settigs.cfg it doesn`t work, it reverts to 640x480. So only 1440 or nothing. This happens in every game. :( High or nothing...

You have to make the settings.cfg read-only.

I split this off from the Detailed Report. I thought the topic and wandered and belonged in this forum.
