I have a 7900gt with 163.44 drivers on a Samsung 226bw with a 1680x1050 native res.

Problem is when I try to run a custom res of 1440x900 in full screen mode I get black bars at the top and bottom of the image as if it was a 16:9 ratio image when its not. The image still stretches horizontally all 1680 pixels across the full screen but not all the way vertically.

When I try running a res of 1280x800 the black bars are even larger leading me to believe that the image is only 900 pixels tall when running 1440x900 and 800 pixels tall when running 1280x800. However in both cases the image stretches across the full screen so everything looks kinda squashed vertically.

Ideally I should be able to run 1440x900 and 1280x800 and have the image take up the entire screen since everything is 16:10. Any one have any idea why I'm seeing black bars?

Edit: Hmm..I was playing with settings and I noticed that even if I set the Nvidia drivers to "Do not scale" it only works for 4:3 and 5:4 resolutions. If I set it to a smaller 16:10 res such as 1280x800 the image is still stretched across the screen instead of being centered with a black border like 1280x1024

How did you manage to enable 1440x900 resolution? I have 8600GT and am unable to switch to that resolution using nvidia control panel - even if i select "show resultions this monitor cannot support".
My native res is 1680x1050 too and I am also using 163.44 drivers.
