Alright guys after a Driver update for my 250 GTS something happened to Diablo 2.

Everytime I get on the game there are 2 black bars one on each side.

Yes I googled it, I tried it all and nothing worked for me. So eventually I pulled this up:
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/

Which brought me to download this:
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/downloads/D2MultiRes-v102.zip

I followed the read me and put her in DirectDraw D2 and extracted all the downloaded files into the Directory.

Now im not sure if their effecting each other (My black bar problem, and mod) But I suspect its a possibility.

When I open the game I have to open it in Window mode (-w) or it wont run and in the game I cant acess any of the modded resolutions.

Yes.. I have tried it in Direct 3D it will run both ways but still no Mod.

Conclusion
I need to get rid of the Bars and get it to work in 1920-1200

Edit (Obviously in the wrong section :doh but this would have never happened if I could have posted a reply with a question)

Extremely old post I know, but I like to use existing posts to steer clear of clutter.

So, just got into Diablo 2 again and was sick of the low res. I did download the mod and followed its directions. However, when I try to run D2MultiResGame.exe, it creates the log but fails to launch giving me

ERROR: Unable to load D2MultiRes.dll. Exiting Diablo II...

I have ran the vidtest and switched from Direct3D to DirectDraw with no change. I looked at the log and it shows:

Loading D2MultiRes v1.02

So, what now? Is it not supported with Lord of Destruction? Patch 1.13? I have run it using the regular launcher and it runs fine but only has the 600x480 and 800x600 resolutions available.

NOTE: I have 64-bit Windows 7

Follow these instructions carefully to make D2MULTIRES work.

1. If you have installed the 113c patch, uninstall diablo.
2. Download the 112a patch from Brothersoft or somewhere (if necessary). Google it.
3. Do the diablo install (if necessary) then run the 112a patch (if necessary).
4. Copy the three d2multires files into the diablo directory (if necessary).
5. Make a shortcut of D2MultiResGame application file.
6. Right-click the shortcut and point to Properties.
7. Make sure Shortcut tab is selected. Look at white text box called target.
8. At the end of this white text box field, press space then hyphen then w so it adds -w at the end. It should like something like this at the end:

.exe" -w

9. Hit Apply or OK to save the change. I recommend leaving Compatibility Mode off.
10. Set the Windows taskbar to auto-hide.
11. Always click the shortcut you made to activate gameplay. This mod seems to require the use of ESC, ENTER, etc., to navigate some menus.
12. In the game, select your native resolution. Center the window and move it up as high as you can.
13. Now it's up to you to use the vertical/horizontal adjustment settings on your monitor and/or your video control software to get the window fullscreen.

I think that's everything. Good luck.

Thank you for the information. I doubt I am going to use the mod now though as it is not supported by 1.13. I like a lot of the changes added and will just have to deal with the low resolutions.
