Post subject: | GTA IV Refuses Letterboxing In 16:9 |
Hello, so a couple of months ago I played GTA IV at 1600x900 in 16:9 being letterboxed on my 16:10-display. It was all great, performed well, I could even record video with it and it looked great in 16:9. Now, however, when I set it at the same settings again, both the 3D-image and HUD on top of it are stretched vertically. Or it pushes it together horizontally rather, because it does show more on the sides. In any way, it simply refuses to letterbox the image and it fills up the 16:10-display. I kindly request, is there any way to force it into letterboxing again? My guess is it would lie in some .ini-file or something. I would really like to get the more "cinematic" 16:9-look again so I can continue on creating some videos. The game looks a little nicer then too though, as it shows a little more on the sides. Greetings. |

Post subject: | You can apply scaling via |
You can apply scaling via Nvidia Control Panel. Select Display>Adjust desktop size and position. Then select 'Perform scaling on GPU' and tick the 'Override the scaling mode set by games and programs' box. Now you're all set. |

I get as far as that page with 4 options: 'Use NVIDIA scaling', 'Use NVIDIA scaling with fixed aspect-ratio', 'Use my display's built-in scaling' and 'Do not scale'. Then none of them have the sub-option of 'Override the scaling mode set by games and programs'. Is one of those the same or similar though? Edit: I just tried the first and second options, and it's the second that works. Not sure if I used this option earlier, when it did letterbox. Thanks for the tip! :) |
