Hi guys,

I downloaded the universal widescreen Patcher to patch my Empire Earth 2 UK 1.1 version but everytime I give him my install folder and try to patch it for 1680x1050 and it gives me this:
"Unable to write to file EE2.exe for patch #1! Close all programs/games before patching" and when I click ok it says "Errors found. Unable to patch game!"

There seems to be nothing wrong with the EE2.exe file, the program just refuses to patch :(
Does anyone else have this problem?

PS: No, I'm not running the game while trying to patch -_- :P

I get the same problem, probably because it's the GOG no-DRM version of the game. Any solution for this?

It works for you? Strange, I wonder why I got that error message.

The resolution I need is 2560 x 1600. What should I do?

Thanks!

Download and replace EE2.exe, on this patched exe - (filed removed)
Then in the game choose 1280x960 resolution, it is replaced by 2560x1600.

Thank you for uploading that, I just saw the mail now. Actually, I figured out what the problem was with the patcher; you need to run it in Administrator and XP SP3 compatibility mode. So my assumption that the exe file was different due to being the GOG version was incorrect.

Much appreciated!

Hi there ! I'm new on the forum.
I just wanted to play empire earth 2 (i used to play EE1) on my macbook pro. I tried different things like wineskin, pol, crossover, wine etc etc..
I can apply patch for example with wineskin i have version 1.4 when i launch the game all the improvments are here (10 000 units for example) but i could'nt set the resolution because i just have 800*600 and 1024*768. SO uniws patch can't work as i can't choose 1280*960.

Nothing worked except your .exe file !! When i replaced the ee2 file in crossover c drive i can now choose 1280*960 which become 2560*1600 :D

My questions is : What dit you do to update this .exe file ?

How can i set the same thing for the extension ? (i have the GOG version but i also tried normal version and 0 patch worked for the resolution)

I also tried to edit .exe with Hex edit but.. that's a bit messy for me. And i think it is not "machine language" (don't know how to say it in english)

Thanks for this patch and thanks in advance if you answer me !

@CyRo @blaz!N
are you running UniWs as an administrator?
it's required to write inside the program files folder

btw, nfsu2 has also a newer widescreen hack
