I recently came upon a fix that corrects the HUD scale in Dota 2 for widescreen monitors. If you use a 21:9 monitor and maybe even Eyefinity, then you may know the problems that come with the Dota 2 HUD. This is a rather simple fix. I have attached a file to this thread called 'flash3.zip' and all you have to do is extract it into the following folder: Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\resource After that you start up Dota 2 and change your HUD to the 'Default' style by going into your Hero Loadout and unequipping any HUD in the Global Items list on whichever hero you prefer. If you fix it on one hero then it will apply to every other hero, hence Global Items. Before fix: After fix: I hope this helps a few people who were really looking for a fix but didn't find one. I should add that I didn't create this fix but rather found it on some foreign website a while ago. I don't know how to completely edit the HUD files themselves but it can definitely be done in Photoshop to look like other HUDs.

Update: Valve recently released a new patch that disables this fix but I discovered a workaround for it. Add this to the launch options for Dota 2: -override_vpk Then start the game and the HUD fix will work again. |

Earlier today Valve released a new Dota2 patch which prevents the use of -overridevpk but the new way to fix this is to use "-enable_addons" as pictured below: |

mmunkn wrote: I can't seem to make this work - is it not working anymore? Thanks. 1. Install the file in the OP as per his instructions. 2. Make a copy of the 'default' folder found in dota\resource\flash3\images\hud_skins\ and name that folder 'new_bloom' (without the ') It should now replace the flowery New Bloom HUD that's being used as the default HUD for the duration of the New Bloom Festival. I'm having some issues with the shop menu myself (3440x1440) (not being able to see the bottommost part of a craftable item), not being able to see some items. I'm not sure if it's something that can actually be fixed with editing files, or if it's just something the game can't handle. I might try to do something about it myself. Thanks for sharing this however. |
