Hey guys,

I just went to my local Fry's Electronics store, and bought an "Accell UltraAV" DisplayPort --> HDMI adapter to use with my Eyefinity setup. I have (3) Acer P235hdmi LCD panels, and a XFX Radeon 5850 (2x DL-DVI, 1x HDMI, 1x DisplayPort).

I have one monitor plugged into a DVI port, another via HDMI, and the 3rd via the DisplayPort --> HDMI adapter. This should be using the two TDMS and the DisplayPort, right? Well, when I go into the Catalyst Control Center, and the 3rd display shows as a DVI display when I hover over it! If I try to extend my display with that monitor, I get a message saying "To extend the desktop, a desktop or display must be disabled." This is the message I'd expect to receive if I had 2x DVI and 1x HDMI ports used, but that isn't the configuration I'm using!

The Accell adapter is an active adapter, not a passive adapter. According to the product packaging:

"Active Technology - converts DisplayPort to HDMI for clear audio & video"

also:

"The circuitry built-into the adapter seamlessly converts the DisplayPort's A/V signal into an HDMI A/V signal and requires no external power."

Any ideas what's wrong with this configuration?

Cheers

Passive

only thing it really can be. You must have read the posts on here reference to 'active' adaptors that require an external power.

again its passive!

That is not an Active adapter. Definitely passive as stated above.
