I am running 3 Viewsonic VX2265wm monitors that support the new 1680x1050@120hz refresh rate. When in extended desktop mode I can configure all 3 to 120hz but when I group them with Eyefinity my refresh rate choice drops down to 60hz only. Is this a driver limitation or can the Eyefinity hardware not output at 120hz?

Any input would be appreciated, I really want Eyefinity to be a success and hope these things can be fixed in time.

The only way around it at the moment is to use a modified EDID as detailed in this thread http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=17635.

But the EDID being detected by CCC shows it supports 120hz already, how would modifying it help?

EDID detects 120hz
Single Display set at 120hz
Eyefinity group stuck at 60hz

I can set each display to 120hz outside of the Eyefinity group but once grouped they all turn back to 60hz and the menu has no other option.

I found this snip of information browsing other forums.

well, im going by amd's display port, only uses the equivalent of a single lane of their 6 outputs... ie dvi-i only on the 5000 series.

dp takes 1 of 6, hdmi takes 1 of 6, dvi-d takes 2 of 6, so 2 dvi and a hdmi port on a card is 5 of 6 used, means thats all your 6 eyefinity gone

If this is true and the DisplayPort on the 5870 is only a single link this might explain why it cant run at 120hz, Is this something software can fix. I am not using the hdmi connection on the card at all.

Because you need to allow only 1 choice in the EDID for the eyefiity group to force custom refresh rates. Read the thread it explains it.
