I changed my windows to black (see through) and my desktop is a very dark blue anyway. Not a real prob, a bar across the top.

As I know (it's 100% sure for 58XX series) when you doing windowed mode Crossfire not working and it's uses 1 card only. Please make sure if your card working is CF mode when windowed.

TBH I don't care if it is NOT running CF, it is doing 90-100 FPS which is better than 50-60 on single card non-windowed LOL

Some games are good though, BC2 and ArmA2 are the worst.

I had seen the Dual-GPU cards. Somewhere I had seen a review (review or comparison) where they compared it with 2 individual cards of the same type. If I recall, the Dual-GPU card suffered from what they considered as bottlenecking - all of that info pouring through one lane, instead of two lanes from two individual cards. The result, I believe was reduced fps compared to two cards.

As much as I thought that might be handy, save some room on the motherboard, not need a bigger motherboard for individual cards, what I read is keeping me away from a Dual-GPU.

If I find that info again, I'll link it. I've been pouring over a lot of info lately and I may be confusing things I've read.

Above is the very review from WSGF, no mention of Micro stutter, I can list 4 or 5 more that all state no studder. The author in another thread even answered a specific questrion on it he said he has not seen it on the 6970s or if memory serves on any of his EF 5800 series setups.

HardOCP is also one, so if this is not on "every" setup there must be a cause, it can be bad cards, or drivers, or it would be seen more often. I have a friend who uses EF in CF no MS at all on 5000 series.

Could it be on non AMD chipsets? or boards not using PCIe 2.0 or 2.1 or maybe using 2.1? Certain brand of cards? Like the 3870 fan speed issue with Diamond cards, which diamond never set the fan speed vs temp threshold then blamed ATI (ATI does not set this, it is vendor specific). Know all about this one, I owned one of them, no more Diamond or HIS for me, still have a dead HIS 4870 that they have no idea how Canadian can warranty it, do not buy from those morons(still have email trail from their so called support).

I have seen posts here and there about it, but most of the responders do not have the issue.

Yep it is not guaranteed but I have had it on two completely different rigs (only PSU the same) with 5970 and CF 6950s (and when they're haxed to 70s!), my friend who has dif mobo and everything else has had it on 5970 and CF 5870s. Works fine if you can get frames to a really high level, or window the game. And some games are worse than others, BC2 and ArmA2 are real bad, CoDBO isn't. I wish that it didn't happen, but it does and is really really noticeable.

So I am going to stick with team green for the forseeable future unless AMD pull a massively awesome single GPU that eats EF resolutions for breakfast.

EDIT: and on the 5870 EF with CF initial test forum thread Kyle from [h] mentioned seeing it... though not in the review.
