kondor999- are you using MSI afterburner? The manual fan controls In catalyst control center for me are completely broke after the 9.12 hotfix. Should I just disable Manual fan control and ati overdrive. and use MSI afterburner for my cooling needs. It's not going to conflict with anything the ATI control center has going on is it?

Probably going to get feedback for my whining ,but for Pete's sake, why cant all this be sorted out before a card is released. Good grief!!! If it takes a few months longer to get the driver right. hold off on putting out the card. I've spent more time with getting stuff to work then I have had time to Play.

Yes, I do use Afterburner. And my fan controls are working - but only for the first card in my Crossfire setup. I'm assuming that's because, with Crossfire, the 1st fan control handles both cards. I'm not sure because I always just leave the fans on auto - they seem to do a great job at cooling without any noise (YMMV). I could confirm visually that the second card's fan is actually running faster when I change the fan speed on the 1st - but I'm too lazy to open up my case at the moment :) .

And Yes - you'll get people here trying to censor you for complaining (or even just sounding like you might be complaining). Don't worry about it. A lot of us out here are silently thinking to ourselves: "Doesn't he/she have the right to express their opinion about something not working?".

I am encouraged by ATI's fast response on things, though. I've never seen a factory rep like Dave Baumann hang out on these forums and respond so quickly to concerns. I happen to think they really care about their end users and will fix these things. As long as they're A) aware of the problem and B) working on it - I'm a pretty happy guy.

It's when neither of those apply, and we have to depend on workarounds long-term, that I get concerned. And that's when complaining is likely to ensue.

This is sort of related to topic. anyone know of a good reliable driver cleaner other than drive sweeper found on Guru?

I use Driver Cleaner.net (http://www.drivercleaner.net/) - it's not free, but it's the best. However, I've had good results updating drivers without the need for it. It's when you're downgrading that you get into trouble.

Hi all, I'm newly registered on this forum, but I've been lurking on here a while. I've found tons of great info here. I've decided to post now because I've experienced an issue that I believe is related to the new 9.12 drivers.

I have a 5970 with 3 24" monitors and an apple active DP converter. I've been lucky to not experience many of the issues that so many of you have written about with eyefinity thus far. Up until today my set up was running @ 5970 X 1200 with relatively few issues (a few that I was able to fix). However, after I installed the 9.12 drivers I had to arrange my monitors in CCC utilizing the blue screen selection process. Immediately following the procedure the monitor hooked up to the 2nd DVI port went black and white. So I went through a process of elimination to see what the problem is. Here is what I did to conclude that its a driver issue.

1. Well the most obvious indicator of this being a driver issue is that it occurred immediately following a driver update.

2. Swapped my DVI cable for an HDMI cable, - still black and white, no change.

3. Swapped monitors on that DVI port - which ever monitor hooked to that port displays black and white.

4. Upon reboots the motherboard bios flash screen and boots screens display full color when connected to that DVI port.

4. Uninstalled CCC and ran driver sweeper. Immediately following reboot, the monitor once again displayed color.

5. Tried a "fresh" install of the 9.12 hot fix drivers/CCC.. - monitor immediately reverted to black and white.

6. I'm yet to go back and install the 9.11 drivers, but my intuition tells me that the issue will resolve.

So, has anyone else experience this? I'm confident that I won't be the only one and hopefully ATI becomes aware of this problem ASAP.

I experienced this black and white Issue. Welcome to the Club.

What caused It for me was switching out of eyefinity. immediately the monitors will go into extended mode and that was when I noticed it. I even went as far as returning GPU's to the local store and getting them replaced. that's when I knew it was not hardware related.

although with Me It was with the 9.11 drivers

It seams like this happens when you change anything related to monitor position. It might be that I inadvertently moved a monitor position when switching out of eyefinity?

I think my main game Dirt 2 has issues. I think the frames went up on the in game fps counter but I feel the game is not running properly. I had corruption in graphics upon first boot but after a reboot thats gone.

Now though I get what seems like major slowdown at certain times, usually with water it goes into a la fear slow motion mode for a split second and I see the lag in the game menu now and then.

I think I may go back to 9.11 not sure yet.

I did look inside the case the other day and seen that when fan is manually adjusted on the first card. the other card just stays at at low RPM while the other increases while in crossfire eyefinity.
What bothered me the most was when I disabled crossfire. I then lost all control manual adjustment of first card . The fan increased to 100% and The only way to decrease it was to disable manual fan control.

Well, On a better note . I do know that "ATI" does see stuff in the forum. so that is a little comfort to me.

There was 3 things I noticed in Dirt after the hotfix.

1. When running benchmark . Every time it would go through the water and would get the water effect on the windshield. it would just about lock up. didn't have that with just one card running benchmark. "same settings"

2. When I would be in game. and fell off a cliff. tried to flashback and it would only go to a certain point. It would not go to the point right before the car left the road.

3. When I changed options in options menu. Game locked up. only happened twice.

Just got a blue screen in Borderlands sweet. Didn't have this problem before the new driver. Bad Pool Caller BSOD. Don't know if this is related to driver or not but.....

yeah i noticed something weird with the new 9.12, when installing over 9.11 drivers i got a black/white screen however i had eyefinity and all 3 monitors connected DVI+DVI+DP, so i disabled both 1x DVI and DP and used a single monitor during install and it worked. i spent all night trying to figure out why these new drivers wont install, i reinstalled 9.11, uninstalled 9.11 completely to install 9.12.. only solution boiled down to disconnecting 2 monitors and install with 1 monitor.

im pretty sure guys that this is the very first premature driver with crossfire + eyefinity support, id prolly give it another 2 - 4 driver revisions to get both crossfire + eyefinity working solid.

So just asking, does the new drivers still allow for the 4800 seies to use TH resolusions, because i've had the same drivers since I built my compy in the summer. I think I'm on 9.8 or 9.9.

Yeah eyefinity stays in place while uninstalling/installing the new drivers. I could not go from 9.11 -> 9.12 unless I disabled eyefinity first. I also ran driver sweeper to make sure I was golden. I booted with just 1 screen working and a low resolution so I know the drivers were gone.

After installing 9.12 hotfix I had all 3 screens back and my driver version shows 9.12 so I know it works. Still though not sure about the drivers being better for me in any way they seem worse. Now I have to track down the 9.11's lol.

I was hoping if anything it would fix the profiles for enabling/disabling eyefinity
