Post subject:  3 Monitors - ATi 5770 and working Displayport adapter?

Hi

I want to buy 5770 or 5850 and have few questions...

1. Do I need this special expensive adapter with USB cable added? I live in Poland and there is not a single place I can find something like it. Even Dell, HP etc pages that sell it in other countries don,t sell it in Poland.
This is the only one I found but it is unavaiable and they change expected date every few days : http://www.pixmania.pl/pl/pl/4291727/art/sapphire-technology/adapter-displayport-do-du.html

Can't I use any normal adapter? like this one that HP offers? http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/pl/pl/sm/WF06c/A1-329290-64268-1844682-1844682-3769762-3769765.html

2. I have one HPLP3065 (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/pl/pl/sm/WF05a/382087-382087-64283-3884471-3884471-3297215.html) and two HP LP2065 (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/pl/pl/sm/WF05a/382087-382087-64283-3884471-3884471-1815933.html?lang=pl&jumpid=oc_R1002_PLPLC-001_HP%20LP2065%2020-inch%20LCD%20Monitor&cc=pl)

I was planning to connect the big one with HPLP3065 with 2056x1600 to one of DVI ports, one of HPLP2065 with 1600x1200 to second DVI port and other HPLP2065 through DisplayPort so maybe the fact that it is only 1600x1200 means I will be able to connect it by this normal/cheap DisplayPort adapter?

3. Are U sure I need Windovs Vista/Win7 to make it work? I am not playing any games, dont need any special grafic features or smth/ just need bigger desktop with my 3 monitors? no way to make it work with WindowsXP?

Looking forward for an answer :)

PS - imy setup looks exactly like this one (but with HP instead of Dell) and it really frustrates me that I can't find a way to make the right side monitor to work :)

1. You could use an ACTIVE DP->VGA Adapter or an ACTIVE DP->DVI
2. No, still must use the adapter.
3. I'm pretty sure under XP you can get a Main Display and 2 Extended Displays, but you CANNOT get Eyefinity Working (SLS Mode)

well I dont need eyefinity I think...

I just need more space for all thing I do :)

Eyefinity thing is responsible only for those games you all talk about etc yes?

If I use fireox, some PostreSQL databases etc it has nothing to do with it I quess yes?

OK

so I bought 5770 and with 2 monitors it worked fine... (HPLP3065+ HPLP2065 connected to 2 DVI)
also got my HP DisplayPort-VGA adapter and when I connect it also works fine with one of my HL2065

downloaded new Catalyst Control Center.

but when I try 3 monitors I can only make 2 of them work (one HPLP2065 connected to DisplayPort) and that big 2560x1600 HPLP3065 conncted to DVI but Windows or this catalyst Control Center doesn't see second HPlp2065 connected to second DVI slot...

Can anyone confirm I can make it work If I'm using Windows XP? Is there any way I can make it ?

If not I quess upgrade to Windows7 is needed but I still have some hopes... :)
