Post subject:  *Need help with Triple Display setup*

I want to set up a three monitor display, but want to make sure I understand what I need in order to make it work. I currently have a 22 inch and 24 inch Acer screens.

I recently bought and installed a Radeon 5770 Video Card

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102864

and upgraded my power supply to 600 Watts.

I am currently using the 2 DVI slots on my computer for my screens.

Please clarify if I'm mistaken. I need to purchase a displaycapable screen or mess with this whole adapter business to get another screen to work.

The two screens displayport screens I'm interested are the 23 inch Dell P2310H

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=04&sku=320-8325

and 24 inch HP screen

If I just bought these monitors and got a displayport cord would I have any trouble?

Also I find the cost of these monitors to be excessively high. Is there any way to get this ASUS 25 inch screen to work?

To get the ASUS 25" screen to work, you would need the Active DP adapter. This is about $100. The combined price puts you above the price of either of the other two monitors you reference. You could do a DP>VGA adapter for about $30, but that is still a similar cost. Adapters can tend to be hit and miss, and you may end up RMA'ing more than once.

I've tried a monoprice DP to VGA adapter on the Asus vw266h before. It wouldn't work on my system, couldn't get anything to display. The monitor works fine with the Dell/Bizlink active DP to DVI adapter though.

I figured the uncertainty of adapters/displaying problems might not make it worthwhile.

But am I good with my setup? Just buy a displayport cord and monitor and good to go?

Also do you guys have any good websites for getting displayport monitors deals?

I'm on newegg, delll, and hp email lists plus I have the deal sections of their websites bookmarked.

It's not an optimal setup, but it will work. Your Eyefinity res will be 3x the lowest resolution. So, if your 22" is 1680x1050, all of your monitors will run with that.

As far as connections, all you need is a DP cable. I don't have any better options for monitor deals.

It sounds bad to do gaming with the screen resolution cropped like that, but oh well. In any event if I'm just using my monitors for regular work say web browsing is there any way to get the monitors to just display their native resolution?

I.e. have 2 screens at 1920x1080 resolution and a third at 1680x1050?
