Sorry for my ignorance with eyefinity, this is my first post on this forum. I've attempted to do research to answer all my questions but haven't gotten answers to everything and lots of old/conflicting information.

I'm almost to the point of pulling the trigger and buying a new card/3 monitor display but still had a couple of questions.

I have decided on the dell U2311H monitors unless someone gives me a very good reason why they are bad for gaming with eyefinity.

I am debating putting the monitors in portrait mode and wanted to make sure games listed as gold and silver run well in this mode. I read a review from over a year ago on hardocp which stated they had trouble running games in portrait mode. I'm hoping that was simply due to the technology being new and isn't an issue anymore. According to the amd site on eyefinity, every game listed there should be able to be run in both 3x1 and 1x3 configurations. Does dragon age work well using eyefinity? Better in landscape or portrait?

Do you feel that landscape or portrait immerses you in games better? Why? Are 23" monitors big enough to do landscape well? The height would be under 1 foot tall and over 5 feet long doing it that way.

I've decided to go with a 6970 card unless there is a very good reason to wait for 6990 or something else being released soon to help future proof gaming more.

Well the issue they had with 3x1 P is that some games (source engine) would have the res, selectable, but since the initial startup would cut the menu, it was hard to select the res.
I found a work around where you could just go into windowed mode, select the res, the go back to fullscreen.

U2311H monitors are great, IPS panels, economical, and has good features.

Landscape, definitely immerses me much better than portrait. Portrait just gives you a bigger screen, and in your case a really big 16:10 screen.

Whether or not gold / silver / certified games will play in 3x1P, it's most likely, but a lot of games were not specifically tested for it.

I know Lost planet will work in 5040x1050, but not in 3150x1680, which is stupid. But it's an engine limitation as Lost Planet 2 wont do it either.
