I already have two 7970's in crossfire but considering swapping these out for two 7970 DC2 cards. Does anyone know anything about these new cards?

How do they really perform against a standard 7970? I know these are faster... but if you oc a 7970 yourself you can go faster than the DC2's clocks. Also the catalyst control centre limits the amount of OC you can do on a 7970.... so if the DC2 can only go as fast as this... then is there really any difference apart from the cooling?

Also does anyone actually know when they are due out? I had one retailer say the 15th of this month to me... not sure if it's true though.

you can unlock CCC Limits in the Registry! They did 1700mhz on LN2 with a HD 7970 ;)

If the DCII are better than Stock Cards? Don't know that! Its a Custom PCB right? So they might have better quality stuff on it. But that won't realy increase OC capabillity! Because they get the same crappy Chips like everyone else! Only when TSMC produces better. We wil get better cards.

Sadly I had the last of my LN2 on my cornflakes this morning.... if only I knew that I could have used it on my GPUs :-)

Joking aside, with a lack of LN2 or knowledge on how to use this the DC2 version of the 7970 may allow me to get higher clocks due to its cooling. I guess it's a case of waiting until they actually come out.

Are you talking about the HD7970-DC2-3GD5 or the HD7970-DC2T-3GD5? The latter is out-of-the-box-OC'ed. And bear in mind that the cards are 2.5 slots in width.

I guess it's a case of waiting until they actually come out.

You can PM me some time in the following weeks, because I'm probably getting one of the Asus cards. Look at this thread for more info.

Well I'm referring to both the DCII Top and standard DCII versions of the card really. Both are the same apart from the overclock. I'm guessing that both will overclock just as well as each other as the components and cooling are the same.

Do you know when they are out?

Was lurking around in a HD7970 OC thread for a while now. Most HD7970 get up to 1150mhz. A few limit at 1050... around 35% do 1200mhz and more.. realy few get over 1300!
