Post subject:  Planning an Ultrawide PLP Setup

I'm planning out a gaming PLP setup with an ultrawide 29" 2560 x 1080 as the middle monitor. I calculated that I can get perfectly matching pixel density from a 23" 1920x1080 monitor.

Right now I'm looking at this for the center, and I'm considering these for the sides since they seem to have a small bezel.

Do these monitors seem decent? Is there anything I should be worried about?

Also, is there a list of monitors that actually have small bezels, and not just a fake photoshopped picture of small bezels?

Those 23" monitors don't have vesa mounts and can't natively go into portrait mode. So I wouldn't recommend them. Once I get home I will research something decent. What's your budget?

For the side monitors, no more than $150 each. I'm not terribly concerned about the picture quality on the side monitors since they're just there for peripheral vision, and FreeSync only works with one monitor anwyay.

Actually according to this post by AMDMatt, you can do freesync eyefinity as long as all the monitors are the same and are run with DP1.2, but I guess in this example it wouldn't due to the monitor mismatch. Although I could see them adding support for this later.

Anyway, Are you willing to buy VESA Mounts? I'm having a hard time finding a monitor that has a stand that allows for portrait on its own that also has a small bezel. These look pretty good and are in your price range, but they will need a new stand to be bought. Monoprice stands are cheap, but they're not the best. They are had to adjust. But good stands are also expensive.

Those look okay if you're will to buy a VESA mount. This has a bigger bezel, but the stand is a hell of a lot better. Remember you can always get a large bezeled monitor and place the ultrawide in front of the bezel to minimize it. I did this with my last 5x1 Portrait setup and it worked well because the monitors were thin (as well as the bezel). Sorry for the blurry phone photo. BTW, these monitor are Dell S2340M and Dell S2340L. They have a great bezel size, but the stand is so bad, it requires an adapter and a new stand.

I wish you ultrawide and budget was slightly bigger as I would advise on getting a Dell S2415H (needs a new stand) or a Dell U2414H (has the best stand and bezel).
