Hi everybody!

About three months ago i installed my TH2Go digi together with three Acer b223w 22" Widescreen monitors. The dream of a larger virtual cockpit for my FSX came true ... but i also had the problem that the monitors showed only a resolution of 1680x1024 pixels!
So i searched the internet for a solution and found this fix in your wonderful forum ... THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I opened a new custom setting in the NVIDIA control panel with all the settings as described (and shown in the picture) in this topic. The only difference is that i didn't stopp Powerdesk SE from removing modes on every boot ... and after the first reboot i got the following settings with "Timing-Standard" DMT ...

Horizontal front porch: 312
Vertical front porch: 1
Active horizontal pixels: 5040
Active vertical lines: 1050
Horizontal total: 6736
Vertical total: 1085
Horizontal sync width: 536
Vertical sync width: 3
Horizontal sync polarity: -
Vertical sync polarity: +
Horizontal scan rate: 61.85
Pixel clock: 416.5900

Desired refresh rate: 57.000
Actual refresh rate: 57.000

Everything works fine since these last three months (also the OSDs on the monitors shows now 1680x1050 pixels at 57Hz!
Do i have to fear any damage of the monitors with these settings in the long term (some of them are far away from yours)? What do you think?

I would doubt there would be any damage to the monitors long term... I've fed my 2405's some odd settings at times and if they don't like something, they'll just complain. If something is likely to damage the TFT, it probably won't let you do it. Modern monitors aren't like old CRTs which would allow you to break them with a bad setting.

So...I come home and windows update decided to update my video drivers and totally screw me over. For the life of me i can't get 5040x1050 back. I uninstalled the 190xx or whatever it installed and reinstalled the 181.71. Max rez i can get now is 3840x1024. I haven't seen a straight guide to get this working just tons of threads about all kinds of things people have tried. Can someone either PM me the steps required to get 5040x1050 back or post them here since they would probably be useful here too. Thanks.

Did you grab the latest GXM/PowerDesk app off Matrox's website ? And the latest firmware while you're there ?

I tried everything in this thread, but my games (FSX, NFS Shift) will not show 5040x1050

5040x1050 works on desktop, but not ingames...

Check in the XGM software if your 5040 res is set to 59Hz or 57Hz. I had both. Games will automatically select the higher refresh, which may fail. I deleted, or disallowed, the 59Hz one, and it worked.

I've been running XP at 5040x1050 just fine. This week I took the plunge and upgraded to Win7 x64 after seeing drivers on Matrox' site. That was apparently a mistake.

I cannot get any resolution higher than 3840x1024. Every time the Matrox software attempts to install the new mode, I get "A Windows Error has occurred". Matrox support says it's a known issue and they are working on it. I've gone back and tried older drivers with no success. I can't create a custom resolution because it tells me that resolution isn't supported by my display.

Am I basically SOL?

Well, I'm closer. I went all the way back to 181.71 and it will let me set the custom resolution to 5040x1050x57. Unfortunately, my Monitors change to "Unsupported Mode" when it changes to that resolution. They worked at that resolution in XP, so I'm puzzled by this.
