I'd like to be able to compile a list of games that work in Directx10 mode ingame at a resolution of 5040x1050 because so far I haven't been able to select one...

Games that work must meet the following criteria:
1. 5040x1050 resolution.
2. Directx10 mode.
3. Correct FOV and aspect ratio.
4. Fullscreen mode (not windowed).

Games that work...

Games that don't work...
1. Lord Of The Rings Online (only works in windowed mode).
2. Bioshock (directx9 mode only).
3. Crysis and Warhead (directx9 mode only).
4. FSX-X (directx9 mode only).
5. World in Conflict (tested ver. : 1.09) ... Symptom : can't click Ok after changing res to 5040x1050. Works in DX9...

I am unable to select 5040x1050 in FSX-X with "Preview DirectX 10" checked.

But I do when the button is unchecked.

Surely this can't be right?

Matrox say you must have a directx10 card to use 5040x1050, yet you can't select it in directx10 mode ingame? WTF?

Is there any official answer? or unofficial for that matter?

I think Matrox say you must have a directx10 card to use 5040x1050 as those cards allow the higher resolutions ... not because they do DX10.

Come on Paddy, you know as well as i do that that is very naughty. Stating you need a directx10 card for 5040x1050 but that actually it wont work in directx10 mode ingame at that resolution is extremely misleading.

I mean it's just plain wrong...

Whats the chances it'll never support directx10 at that resolution? If so whats the point of playing games in vista in directx9 mode when most gamers only bought vista for directx10.

The more I think about it, the more I don't like Matrox's lack of clarity here....

Now your taking my thoughts (I did say "I think") and putting them in to Matrox's mouth ...

It could be they did clarify this more ... I dunno ... I don't use Vista I dropped it long ago.
If in fact they are the only cards that will do the res .. if they didn't mention it someone would complain ... "Why didn't you say we needed a DX10 card !"
And ... for all I know it works in DX10 as only a few people have indicated this is a problem ... and ... you yourself said this ...
You sir are...are..are.. my new wife!!!! I think I lurve you!!!! I followed your instructions and it worked!! Half Life 2, the works. Everything. Even flaming Need for speed underground 2 for crying out loud!!

I shall name my second born in your honour. This has been driving me crazy since I bought the damn thing.

Once again, I thank you...
... so was that in DX9 ?

Just if this helps at all. The reasons for the monitor limitations.

DirectX9 has a maximum supported resolution of 4096x4096, and DirectX 10's maximum resolution is 8192x8192

Meaning the 3 monitors cannot go over those resolutions. As far as TH2G unleashing the DX10 Limit I can only hope but right now not everything is DX10. Is there a way to play a dx9 game as dx10? Or at least use DX10 so I can use my higher res?

Krystm ... please change your sig to meet the rules.

From the profile page ...
Signature:
Use this block of text to display your system specs. There is a 512 character limit. Please no images.

Please keep the text (colored text is fine) between sizes 9 and 11 (using BB Code). Run your specs horizontally (rather than vertically), and limit to four lines at normal forum width.

Thank you ... 8)

Yup you're right (as usual). I didn't mean to compare your thoughts to matrox's statements. My fault.

Yes i did go all gushy when I found the system worked but that was in directx9. I read that you needed a directx10 card to achieve 5040x1050 and seeing as dx10 is only available in vista (even though I obviously realise you can have a directx10 card and only have xp installed), I re-installed vista again to have some 5040x1050 dx10 gaming...

But no, so far I can't play any directx10 games in dx10 mode at that resolution. It's all dx9. Look, it's not a major problem I realise this, I just think it's unfair that dx10 is required but can't be used ingame?

I still think it would be a good idea to have a confirmed list of games that meet the following criteria

1. 5040x1050
2. directx10 mode ingame
3. Correct FOV, aspect ratio, etc.

Or is this a litle too much to ask?

Incorrect. DX9-compliant GPUs have a 4096x4096 limit. DX10 GPUs have a 8192x8192 limit. But the API itself (i.e. the DX version) does not affect the maximum resolution (unless we are talking about DX7 and older). You can play DX9 games, games for which a DX10 mode and DX10 coding do not even exist, at resolutions such as 4320x900, 5040x1050, and 5760x1200, assuming you have the proper hardware.
