Elior77,

You.Are.A.Godsend!!! I've been toiling over this for months with no success and basically gave up (accepting a 3840X1020 resolution) - that is, until another windows update completely killed my THTG output altogether. Then I stumbled on this, followed your steps to the letter, and PRESTO - 5040x1050 again, only now at 59 hz (instead of 57 hz which I had on Vista)!!! In 5 minutes, you solved a problem that has taken away dozens of hours of my life!! :D

My specs:

Win7 Home Premium 64 Bit
i7 920 at 2.67 Hgz (not overclocked)
Gigabyte Mobo EX58-UD4P
Nvidia GTX 260, GTX 295, and 9600GT graphics cards - NVIDIA 195.62 drivers
6GB DDR3 RAM at 533 MHz
Powerdesk Firmware version 2.3.40
3 Viewsonic VX2262wm (based on recommendation from this site - they work perfectly and are cheap) through GTX 260 and TH2G
1 HP 2408 Monitor 1920X1080 through GTX 295 and one other Viewsonic 2026W through 9600GT
1200 Watt power supply, multiple fans, Sniper tower, etc.

I use my machine largely as a flight sim, so I have a total of 6 monitors. I bought the TH2G and custom built my rig SPECIFICALLY for flight simulation and I've been bitterly disappointed with Matrox's misleading advertising and weak support. I've since branched out into other forms of gaming and my wife and I run photoshop CS4 for our amateur photography. It's been a big investment, and ALL monitors get used, so I'm thrilled to finally get the functionality I paid for! Thanks. :D :D :D

Great guide :bowdown

Just wanted to say that everything works to the letter :)

Installed Nvidia 195.62 over the old one and rebooted
Installed v64_gxm-veos_2_06_00_026_whql over the old one and rebooted
GXM applies the new settings reboot

Nvidia control panel added custom resolution and refresh rate 59.400 Hz and then followed

elior77 instructions on the deviceinfo and rebooted :)

Holy Smoke - After countless hours of frustration and numerous unanswered emails to Matrox. I finally got the larger resolution.

THANKS

you rock, :rockout

FYI to all - as of yesterday new firmware released for TH2GO digital (assume all). The link they provide is broke, I again emailed them to inform them. If you look at the link they left out the "m"

should look like so - then it works. (maybe this will allow you to download it directly.

ftp://ftp.matrox.com/pub/mga/archive/gxm/firmwareutility/THD_u015_v2.3.40.t6.56.exe

thanks again, FSX alot better now.

And for those asking about Bad Company 2 - it will not work, widescreen not supported by BF2 at all.

Now next question is there an easy way to switch from the 3 screens back to 1 (center) so i can play Bad Company 2?

Welcome wildwally, check out the stickies:
Choose which screen for single screen for gaming ...

But you shouldn't need this for BFBC2 as it is natively Hor+ in widescreen and TripleHead :?
You can try manually editing DocumentsBFBC2settings.ini (5040x1050 will probably not work in DX10/11 mode). If you need more help please ask in the Multi-monitor Gaming forum.

Oh for the love of GOD!

I spent 30+ hours back in November screwing around with custom resolutions and your thread (found after checking/googling for an hour today) fixed everything.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way here was my setup:

Custom Res: 59.489
Vid Card: Nvidia 8700M (notebook)
OS: win7 64bit

All the other stuff per spec (2.3.4 firm, 6.56 vid table, 195.62 nvidia driver for x64, PD 2.06)

I can't express my joy. It is sad ... but true.

Now to try gaming.

So what do I do when I go through all those steps then Vista won't let me save the changes to the DeviceInfo.ini file?

Every time I try to save the changes, I get "Cannot create C: . . . DeviceInfo.ini file. Make sure that the path and file name are correct."

Yes, I have verified that the path and file name are correct. It even asks me if I want to save over the already existing .ini file -- when I say yes, then I get the error.

That's weird, I never had this problem in XP, Vista or 7. :|
Does your user account have Administrator rights ?
Is the file read-only ?

Hi guys.

Did step 1,2,3,4 according to the first post.

However, I vertical refresh rates within the 59.xxx range fails the test. I can find some rates in the 58.xxx range that will pass the test. But the result looks like crap.

I wonder if my setup differs in some other way.

I'm running winxp and three monitors connected to the th2g box with vga cables and adapters (dual link dvi to the computer).
All monitors has also been successfully tested of individually running 1680x1050@57 (1x samsung SM 225bw and 2x samsung SM 2043nw)

Anyone with "similar" setup got it to work?
