I have this setup as my desktop resolution no probs. Anyone any ideas as to why not one single game will let me select it as an ingame resolution?

Do I need the SGU to enable the new modes? (I never used it for 3840x1024).

ny help would be much appreciated...

Just in my experience, I had to change the desktop between several different TH2G modes, and reboot a couple times before I was allowed to select it in game. Come to think of it, I may have had to power down the TH2G as well (mine still has power even when the cpu is off). Not sure which of those steps is needed or not, but that was my path to success.

Also, yes, you may want to try leaving the Matrox app running, even if you're not using it to change modes. I believe that was part of my process.

Once it's recognized, it works every time afterwards for every game, so it's not like you'll have to go through it on every resolution switch. Didn't make much sense to me, but that's worked twice for me after 2 driver installs.

Thanks for the reply mate, but it's just not having it. I updated the firmware and powerdesk software as per the matrox website guide. Then installed SGU. I can select 5040x1050 on my desktop and the resolution is available both in nvidia control panel and the powerdesk, but it shows my native resolution as whatever is the highest resolution I choose in the 'edit mode list', not 5040x1050.

Not one game lets me select this resolution and it's not showing as available in the SGU??

Any ideas would be most welcome!!

SAME PROBLEM HERE! SAME QUESTIONS!

IL2 does not execute with 5040X1050 in its config file.

When I go to matrox powerdesk I can click change resolution and select 5040x1050 for my desktop and that works. But I am not able to actually put the 5040x1050 in my "edit mode list" as to select it there?. Should 5040x1050 be listed in my edit mode list menu for my simulator software to see it?

Or maybe IL2 just does not except this resolution?

Exactly. The 5040x1050 mode is in the 'change display mode' section but my native desktop resolution is only as high as the one I put in the 'edit mode list' which is always lower than the maximum.

So in effect although my windows desktop is showing 5040x1050, the native desktop is 4080x768 because thats the highest I can add in the 'edit mode list'. The SGU therefore only picks up that resolution as the highest and so do all games.

It's driving me mad. Has anybody got their native desktop to display 5040x1050? If so, how!!??

Maybe this has something to do with it ??????.................

The powerdesk wouldn't even offer me that rez until I unchecked the "hide unsupported resolutions" check box on advanced settings -> monitor section of my display.

I'll have to look into this when I get home.

**DANGER DANGER WILL ROBINSON CROSSPOST AHEAD**

OK.... here we go... "thankfully you all have a talented and gifted security agent..."

If your monitor is listed as Plug and Play, it needs to say Matrox TripleHead2Go Edition, if not the games will not run in 5040x1050. This is of course assuming your desktop is currently at 5040x1050.

Right click on the monitor list (i.e. Plug and Play Monitor)
Properties
Driver
Update Driver
Browse my computer for driver software
Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
have disk
browse (to your PowerDesk install directory, usually c:Program Files (x86)Matrox Graphics IncPowerDesk SE)
Highlight GXM.inf
Open
**you may get a pop up asking if you want to Trust Matrox, if so say yes**

This should install the correct monitor listing and allow you to play games in 5040x1050. I just checked COD4 and X3 (my two favorites) and I now have the option.

I hope this helps out the other people having issues.

**EDIT**

I now have the following resolutions listed in the SGU
4098x768
4320x900
5040x1050

This appears like it's going to do the trick. I've made this a Sticky, and I'm going to lock the other threads, and consolidate discussion here.

Just had to say .. thanks ibrin for bringing it all together here..

This advice definitely works. I've tried it on all my game that supported 3840x1024 and they all, without exception, work at 5040x1050. Marvellous.
