Unable to get my new triplehead2go digital edition to recognize the new widescreen resolutions 4320x900(3x1440x900 at 60hz) or 5040x1050(3x1680x1050 at 57hz).
I have 3 acer 22" monitors - 1x AL2223W & 2x AL2216W
Computer wise I have 4gig DDR, P4 3.2grz, Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+, Windows Vista Ultimate
I have went through the tutorial http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/support/gxm/windows/th2go/digital/howto1/ a dozen times trying every type of scenario. I have tried completely removing everything Matrox related from my computer and the registry and started from the beginning. I tried re-flashing the device on a windows xp machine to see if it would affect it. I have reinstalled the graphics drivers. I saw from a previous post that someone installed their main monitor's drivers, so I gave that a shot without any solution. I tried manually forcing the resolution through Nvidia control panel, but the monitors appeared to be on top of each other (Which is why I think it has something to do with the firmware of the device). I have been working on this all day - here is a screenshot that speaks more than words:

I contacted Matrox but wondered if anyone else would have any other suggestions...

Yep read through that thread towards the beginning of my search. Verified that it is using the Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital Edition as the monitor driver. Something I forgot to add in my orginial post is that I updated everything I could think of. Including making sure I had Directx 10 installed. Saw in another thread that having single link dvi cables after the th2g shouldn't effect it's resolution. I currently have 1 single and 2 dual link from the device to the monitors. Think I should go buy another dual link to see if it does anything?

Shouldn't need dual link to the monitors. The 5040x1050 requires 57Hz. I see your monitor is set to 60Hz in the screenshot. Have you tried setting it to 57Hz?

OMG!... Started flipping through the threads agian and this one caught my eye. Rolled my nvidia drivers back to 175.x and It WORKS!!!

[url]http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/9203]

Guess I don't need the nvidia 177.x drivers yet but it would probly be a good idea to tell people to roll back their video card drivers if all else fails.

THANKS :)

Hi Guys First Post,

i just bought my Th2g last night and my problem is simalar but not exactly the same as some people on here.

i bought 3x Acer P241wb

i installed everything as here and am able to see the new resolutions (correct monitor and program versions)

1440x900x3 works fine without problems in windows and games.

1680x1050x3 does not work in windows. not going to test games till it works in windows.

when i select 5040x1050 it goes through without problems but im missing large sections of the screen.
so the output image is 5040 but my monitors have reverted to 1280x1024x60

ive tried 3 sets of nvidia drivers yet they all have the same results.
2 release and the current beta ones. (dont have the version numbers exactly cause im at work but i think they are listed here.)

i spent an hour just testing differnt combinations of custom resolution timings but nothing changed.

im really really hoping the acer monitors are not the issue

edit : have to add specs
WinXPpro
2x8800gtx in SLI
3x Acer P241wb

Hello ... welcome to the forum ... 8)

How does one monitor look at 1680x1050@57Hz ?
Maybe the Acer's don't like 57Hz ...

Also have you tried these drivers ... http://www.nvidia.com/content/forcewithin/us/download.asp

They are what I'm using and I too have 2x8800gtx SLI and using XP Pro ... specs below ...

Hey Paddy, thanks for the reply

i tested the P241w on its own and it works fine in 1680x1050@57
however the monitors OSD says its doing 1920x1200@60

but the image shows up fine

i tested the drivers you linked and got the same results.

i also tested in Vista64 with exact same issue.

i tested an older 24" i had Acer AL2416w
it couldnt do it either cept it had different issues. the screen would actually freeze and not bring up the OSD. but the image and windows showed a fair bit more it looked like a timing issue with slight out of place bar along the left side.

for the final test i pluged in my 37" 1080p lcdtv and that displayed it perfectly

so there seems to be an issue with the 2 models of acer 24" screens i have here

not sure if i should get in touch with Matrox to see what they know or if i should call acer....

It is starting to look (to me) like a monitor issue ... :(
I'm not sure Acer would of much help ... you would probably confuse the hell out of them talking about the TH2G ...
Matrox may be able to help and from what I hear on the forum it is best to call them if you can.

So Rulehorse.... Now that you have it working, how is the Acer 2216W do for scaling... Looking to buy three of these myself.
Also curious if you got them working in the 3 x 1680 x 1050 (5040 X 1050) resolutions? Or had to stick with the 3 x 1440 x 900 (4320x900)?
