My original problem is here http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/9364 After almost 2 weeks of troubleshooting i think i have come to a conclusion.

It looks like it is not possible to run 5040x1050 on any card that isn't DX10 compatible (only nVidia 8series and up) my 7800GT will not work. So i went to Circuit city and purchased a 8500GT real fast just to see if it was my video card that was the problem. With the 8500GT installed and the most recent Beta drivers 177.xx installed (I'm running XP) i was able to get 5040x1050 selectable @ 57Hz. This is where my next issue comes up. When i set the desktop resolution to 5040x1050 only my middle monitor (Gateway FPD2185W) displays a perfect 1680x1050 picture. The other 2 Monitors (Acer AL2216W's) display a distorted picture. The taskbar is under the bottom bezzle of the monitor (only a sliver visible) and the image is stretched, clearly not running 1680x1050. It looks like these monitors are not capable of running 1680x1050 at anything other then their native frequency of 60Hz. If i change the display modes to 2 monitors 1680x1050 @ 60Hz then they work fine but again that 60Hz seems to be the catch. I purchased these monitors at Newegg and it looks like i can't return them what do you guys think i should do?

Also the most recent beta drivers can be flaky in XP, i had to go back to the 175.16 WHQL drivers to get 5040x1050 working 100%

edit: this may have been because I am running in SLi though...

It is a documented fact, and is indicated on the Matrox website, that you need GPUs that are DX10 complient to run 5040x1050 and 1440x900. These resolutions exceed that 4096-pixel limit present on earlier GPUs.

This really has nothing to do with DX10 or DX9. It's just that the first DX10 cards happened to remove the 4096-pixel limit and replace it with an 8192-pixel limit.

@ VentZero ...
Please remove the image from your sig ... it is not allowed.

From the Profile page ...
Signature:
Use this block of text to display your system specs. There is a 512 character limit. Please no images.

Please keep the text (colored text is fine) between sizes 9 and 11 (using BB Code). Run your specs horizontally (rather than vertically), and limit to four lines at normal forum width.

Thank you.
