As above, I'm having this issue which I have not been able to resolve yet. Have a GTX 280 so Im kind of bound into what drivers I can test it with, 178.xx and above...

My 3 screens are crappy Videoseven 22", which can display 1680x1050@57hz when sending the vga-signal to each screen, and everything shows up properly. However, using triple-wide all goes blurry and interpolated(?) and looks like crap, when this happens the monitor's OSD say that the res is 1280x1024@57hz... the display properties and GXM all say it's 5040x1050....

I've tried it between OS's, win xp/vista x64, and different drivers, pretty much all between 178.13 to 180.48... I've also tried to use mattsimis fix, but setting the custom res in the cpl, gives me a bsod depending on the driver, other times it adds it but is still displayed incorrect...

Anyone seen this issue? How would I troubleshoot this further before I take a big dump on this paperweight?

btw, the 4320x900 works purrfectly... but if I wanted that I just could have kept my 4870x2-rig instead...

any help is appreciated guys.

Hi there,

First, I'm afraid it's pretty hard to predict how "crappy" monitors will react to 5040x1050@57Hz, even though their individual ability to display 1680x1050@57Hz seems like a good omen...

Secondly, you wrote "vga-signal", is that a typo ? How are each screen connected to TripleHead2Go, and TH2G itself to your graphics card ? Are you using any DVI-to-VGA adapters ?

Hm, I dont quite follow why a monitor would be able to display 1680x1050@57hz w/o th2go but not with the th2go. Have you seen this happen? Doesn't sound right... :?

2nd; No, not a typo, since the monitors are fairly cheap, they only have a vga-plug, so yes, I run Dual-link DVI from gtx 280 to th2go and then 3xdvi->vga adapters into the monitors.

May be stupid I know, but I read on the Matrox-pages somewhere that vga<->dvi was ok to use with the th2go w/o issues. That was of course before I bought the unit...

But why would the adapters create this issue? The bandwidth even through conversion is more than enough and I can live with the nominal quality reduction of using vga instead of dvi.

I mean, the fact is that I can replicate the signal going into the monitors by creating a custom res of 1280x1024@57hz and use that, it will look exactly the same as the output which the GXM says is 5040x1050@57hz...

Gah, the frustration is mounting... :D

When you say it works directly to the monitor is that through vga same as when with the th2g or with dvi? the monitor might use 2 controllers, one for dvi, one for vga and they might not have the same tolerances.

Example, this w42 i'm using uses 2 different chipsets, one for vga+dvi on the left and another for hdmi+dvi on the right, the hdmi+dvi chipset has more problems at some frequencies than the left one.

It works directly via GTX 280 dvi-output converted into the vga-adapter which in turn is connected to the monitor. The monitor has only VGA, no DVI, no HDMI.

So I only have one controller to worry about. As I seem to remember it was the same regardless of DVI-output on the video card, left or right did not matter. Ive yet to test my 8800GT instead, dunno if it is a driver/vga-card issue... but does not seem like it to me. :?

I don't know. 5040x1050@57Hz is not just like any other triplehead mode, so I'd still tend to blame the VGA adapters, but I can't prove anything. :?

And BTW, monitors that can do 1680x1050@57Hz individually, but not 5040 using TH2G is exactly what I have right now, though only in Vista.

Hello,

Have you tried the image quality adjustment with the Matrox PowerDesk software?
Have you tried the image quality / phase adjustment procedure for your monitors?

I have what sounds like the exact same problem as Morna with maybe a little twist. Sorry I don't have any fix to suggest but maybe my added info will shed more light.

(Scavvenjahh, recall my posts in another thread about my Acer V223W monitor's OSD showing 1680x1024 when in fact the screen shots are at 5040x1050.)

Well, when I set up only one or two screens at 1050 the screen image is perfect, i.e., no blurry scaling issues, and the OSD says 1050. But when I go to 3 monitors (5040x1050) it all goes blurry due to scaling of non-native input and the OSD says 1680x1024. This much is just like Morna except my OSD does display 1680 across, not 1280. But, as I learned in the other thread, a screen shot will be 5040x1050.

Now here's the kicker. When I'm in 5040x1050 part of the Windows desktop is pushed off the screen at the bottom. The evidence of this is: In single or double screen mode if I stretch the Taskbar upwards the 10 icons I have in the lower right corner will occupy two rows of 5. See screenshot. Then, if I switch to triple screen the lower row of 5 icons will drop out of site off the bottom.

In triple monitor mode (5040x1050) the bottom icons and the word "Saturday" are not seen and the OSD says 1024. It's like the "missing" 26 rows exist but are pushed off the screen.

:? ???

Edit: For sure it has to be an issue with the 57hz refresh. When the monitors are running in single or double screen all 1050 lines are displayed but the OSD says 60hz.

Exactly the same problem i have, my monitors are 22' LG L225WS analog with vga>DVI converters.

The monitors when i put the computer in 5040x1050 says that the resolution are 1280x1024...

The system works fine in 4320 x 900

Any ideas ??

Thanks.

I had a problem with my Dells pushing the bottom row off @57Hz. I had switch from aspect scaling to 1:1 scaling. That fixed it for me.
